I've been using GV as well as Project fi since it started last summer and could not be happier. Converted the rest of the family over and cut my cellphone bill by 70%.

I have used the free Google Voice and free phone number for a number of years on computers and smart phones.

Bought an OBi200 for around $48.00 a few weeks ago. Had a cordless phone at home (works with a corded phone too) and only took a few minutes for setup. Several have said that the call quality is great.

Only downfall is there is no E911 service but it can be had for $15.00 a year if needed. I have a cell phone through Republic Wireless and it has E911 service.

Free unlimited nation wide calls + Canada with the OBi200 and Google Voice. The Obi200 plugs via ethernet to the router so no need having the computer on.

I was under the impression 911 service on a cell phone is slower, since they have to determine via GPS where your location is ,and with a land line the address automatically pops up. Is this incorrect information?

That is a good question. Hope someone will post some info about it.

As far as using the OBi200 for a home phone using Google Voice it does not have E-911 but on the OBihai web site you can pay $15.00 a year for 911 service. Has your home address, etc.

If you need it that makes your total phone bill @ $15.00 a year.

Update it is working great. Sound quality is just fine.

Has become our home phone. Have it hooked to a cordless phone with several handsets and no issues.

Saving over $400.00 a year.
