ive run the 10w40 in my dirtbike no problems. I have not done uoa on it, and some have reported it shearing out of grade in a rather quick time

depends on what motor it is run in, but after coming out of mine....i could pizz thicker fluid. it was barely a 30wt.

with the single exception of Syntec 0w30 (ie GC) the castrol products i have tried (both car and bike specific) were total [censored] in my motor. the MMoD turned their products to water.

I may be using Castrol Tection 15w40 for my next oil change in my CBR600F1 this season. I saw a VOA of of it in the VOA section and it looked impressive to me.

Running the Rotella T 15W40 right now and it's working very well...Clutch and shift action is excellent and it's running very smooth.

I just sent a sample of the 10-40 Actevo off to Blackstone for a UOA. Around 2,000 miles on it in my 'Strom. I'll post the results as soon as I get 'em.

I stuck RTS 5-40 in there till I find out how the Actevo did. I know RTS is pretty much 'the' oil for the 'Strom, but, I'm trying to save my stash for my diesel equipment.

I've got a UOA in here somewhere on the Actevo, about 2 years old I think. Anyway, I ran it for a few changes and sent a sample to Blackstone. I was not happy. It was ran in a 2003 Goldwing for 3000 miles. It was down to a thirty wt. and the additive package was used up. I found me another oil company!

My VOA on this oil is the first post in the thread https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/voa-castrol-actevo-10w-40-jaso-ma-mc-specific.82780/

Here's a UOA, 2,000 miles on the oil/3,000 overall ('07 1000cc, water cooled, v-twin), Suzuki V-Strom:
RON: All wear read around or below averages in this first sample from your motorcycle. We did find a trace of fuel, which is likely from idling or low-rpm operation, and it is probably the cause of the slightly low viscosity. It's nothing to be too concerned about. Insolubles (oil oxidation due to heat, use, and blow-by) were low at 0.2%, showing good oil filtration. Silicon was well below average so your air filtration is working great. The TBN read 5.8, still active additive remaining. We expect the fuel to disappear next time. This is a nice looking engine and it should treat you right.

Hi sunruh -
Yeah, those numbers are a bit higher than you'd think, although Blackstone didn't seem worried.
Lead/tin/nickel/copper sounds almost like bearing material, doesn't it?
Maybe I'll siphon some out in 500 miles or so and have another test done!! :pacing:

rwest,
that's the problem with blackstoned. you never know if it is background scatter or if a real issue is lurking or not.
and if background scatter is worth 2ppm, then are the others lower (or higher) as well?

While digging around the 'net looking for some info for an oil thread in another forum

I came across pricing for the 10-40 ACT>evo here http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?item=CAS_12365_G

A few things stand out:
1. When I paid $8.00/liter for it some years ago, I paid too much.
2. Wonder which is the best buy $3.99 for one liter, or $17.99 for four?!?!

I triple-checked to see if that was $17.99 for 5 liters, but, nope, it's 4. Am I missing something?
