I installed VMware last night under Ubuntu 9.10.

Code:
sudo chmod +x ./VMware-Player-3.0.0-203739.i386.bundle

gksudo bash ./VMware-Player-3.0.0-203739.i386.bundle

Very easy and seamless installation. Then installed XP onto the virtual machine ... and why have I been dual-booting for so long???

First hiccup is all of my XP Programs disappeared in the VM when I checked this AM. That can't be good.

I found virtualbox to be easier. Might want to try that instead. Use the "non-free" binary version from Sun rather than the open source "community" version and you'll get much better driver support and things like USB devices will work as expected in the Windows virtual machine. I agree that dual booting is for the birds.

Try ESXi seems to be much more mature and stable than Workstation or the server versions.

I have occasionally used my VM under Debian. It seems to work OK, but fortunately, I seldom have to put up with things requiring it.

Wayne;

Unless I am missing something (quite possible), it seems most of the ESXi apps are for Servers.
