Where do most of you find is a good location for mounting a small vise.
This will not be for grinding, but holding items, loosening fasteners etc .

Vise will be a small wilton bullet vise.

Work bench is a rolling 72 inch x 20 deep.

Left hand side? Center? Right hand side? I do have a tall cabinet the the right of the bench. But my bench can be rolled straight out to the center of the garage if needed.

I am right handed.

I would go for the left hand side.

Leave most of bench for normal work/operations.

Extra room off to the left for large, or bulky work pieces.
Thanks!
That was my first thought, I had the drawer pulled out , but thought I would get opinions before drilling!!

I would definitely not put it up against the window or a wall, etc. You may think you will only use it for a certain task but you will probably end up using it for all kinds of things. I have even used mine to cut tough dog chew treats in half with a hacksaw.

Typically you want the back jaw to slightly hang out past the front edge of the workbench so you can put something vertically tall in it.

Nice vise and great place for installation. Mine is on the left also, and on the far right is a bench grinder, leaving the center of the work bench unobstructed. I use both of them a lot.

Does anyone have a woodworking vise mounted underneath? My Dad had one so I have one. And a regular vise but on right side.

I have some drawers under the regular vise I tend to leave open. They end up getting crap in them from whatever I was working on in the vise. Probably should the time to close the drawers. Ya think?
