My wife's pc has started to go bonkers. well anyway, here's the problem. My wife is sitting at her computer painting ornaments when a popup for "antivirus 2009 shows up" then firefox opens up by itself directly to these websites. this is what caused her to run a mcafee scan. Mcafee couldn't find anything. now I'm doing an ESET online scanner. Here's pics of what is happening. I'm not making this stuff up. My other pc with Malware aircrack problems is my toshiba laptop.

mine sometimes does the same thing. in order to cure it, i run a free operating system called ubuntu. i don't use windows, and i don't need windows: windows is mainly usefull if you want to play computer games. if you want to keep yourself free of viruses, and have one of the best operating systems in the world, with free applications to do anything you want, and free updates at least every year, and works great even if you have a slow processor with very little memory, then google search ubuntu and your computer will instruct you what to do. oh, and ubuntu is based on something called linux, which is a very advanced and sophisticated and free product, written by people who believe that you shouldn't have to make Bill Gates a multi billionaire just for the priviledge of using a computer, and that there are many billions of people all around the world that cannot afford to make Gates obscenely rich, and cannot afford the very high priced computers required to run his "operating system", that he routinely gouges you for, whenever he feels like he needs a multi billion dollar "bonus".

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 at the moment and love it. To run linux, you need time and knowledge. Most users would benefit from dual booting Windows and something like Ubuntu. Unfortunately, setting up a GRUB partition isn't easy for the average person because it takes time.

I think Windows is safe as long as you have a basic firewall, real time virus protection, and only visit well-known sites.

Good luck getting your virus issues sorted

Grub partition?

You chuck it in the MBR.

Grab partition magic, or a spare HDD. Install as dual-boot. Away you go. It's easy.

eset online scanner found "win32/bho.nku trojan" in fccdcdwv.dll eset online scanner unable to remove it

Use the latest version of Spybot Search and Destroy to get rid of it and to immunize your system from future attacks.

You can download it HERE (www.download.com)

I second the MalwareBytes.org scanner and Spybot S&D. I believe my bro in-law had the same message come up on his PC, but he wasn't getting the auto launch windows.

^^Exactly! Anytime you`re surfing the net and you get any kind`ve pop up like that, don`t click the yes,no,or the X to get rid of it (that will install their spyware/virus on your computer). Always hit ctrl/alt/delete on your keyboard to end the internet session, then log back on. If you ever get a worm/virus that you can`t delete, reboot your computer in safe mode and manually delete the virus, then reboot back up in normal mode and the virus will be gone.

Try using the plethora if free scanners.

superantispyware
ewido online scanner
f-secure online scanner
trend micro housecall
a-squared online scanner
bitdefender online scanner

Those are the best. You might need to, like mentioned above, download the free versions of superantispyware and a-squared and run them in safe mode. that usually gets rid of stubborn malware.

I have run mcafee scan, couldn't find it.
I have run eset online scanner, it has found the trojan, but said was unable to remove it
I have run trendmicro online scanner, it didn't find the trojan!
I've done spybot search and destroy, immunize, didn't work
I'm running and installing avast right now.

Most of what you ran was AV software. It is not virus related but spyware related.

You need to run some of the Antispyware programs mentioned above.

It's a Trojan. Most decent AV software (like NOD32, Avira...etc) will pick it up.

Avast has a nice boot-time scanner which makes removing certain virii much more convenient.

if one scanner found it, and was able to give you the file name, a program like avenger can delete the file before windows.

SDFix works good too.

avast wasn't able to remove. now, I have a tray icon saying windows automatic updates are turned off. I check control panel, they are turned on..
