SYNTEQ medias come in all levels of filtration. I believe, from cruising the Donaldson site, that there are about 20 ..all for various applications with presumed variances for application demand in terms of longevity and particle size control.

The EaO line is Beta15=75 (98.7% efficient @ 15um and larger) ..while your common paper media Wix (and most others) may be Beta30-35+=20 (90% @ 30-35um and larger). A very big difference.

The EaO line is very much a cut above cellulose media filters ..and does command a premium price. It's not for everyone. Unless there was some need for absolute superior filtration, or the filter service length (at the same superior filtration level) was long enough to justify it, I can't really recommend it on a cost:benefit basis. I use them, but I'm into achieving as long a drain interval as practical and I leave the filter in service for at least 1 year/2 OCIs.

So, "it depends" on whether the EaO filter is right for you in your type of service.
