With current technology which grade oils generally contain little to no Viscosity Index Improvers?

Synthetic?

Synthetic Blend?

Conventional?

If you can make a 5W30 Synthetic (GIII) without VII it seems likely that most 5W20 Conventional(GII+?) or SB (GII/GIII) may not have any either.

Almost all oils have VII's other than Redline and some grades of Amsoil. Better oils use better quality viscosity modifiers.

Almost all oils have VII. M1 EP oils appear to be close to having lower VII and 10w30 (grp. III-IV) is the grade that would generally have the least.

The best base oils such as GTL have natural VI's around 130-150.

Thanks guys thats what I was looking for. I thought I remembered reading once that M1 10W30 had no VII. I know some other manufacturers sell dual rated SAE30 / 10W30 Synthetic (No VII).

Made me wonder about some of the 5W30 and 5W20.
