IIRC, the rotation is quite beneficial to the valve seat(and valve's contact surface), since it will even wear around it.

In this case, should we be running our engines at higher RPM's so that the valves rotate? It doesn't rotate at lower RPM's in the video.

i'm fairly certain i've seen it happen lower RPMs.... i wonder if it's just a quirk of this particular engine?

It does, it just rotates slower.

My diesel is at 1750 rpm at 70 mph. At 3200 rpm it is 130 mph.

I was wondering why my car seemed to be losing so much oil. This explains it!

V8 Mustang, but it's doing ~120 in about 10 seconds so you'd be hard pressed to stay in it for 20 seconds on a ramp.

That is one fast Mustang!

Another interesting video about the life of an F1 engine. Their oil is customized. Valve trains are nitrogen pressurized as no spring are fast enough to deal with 10k RPM while crankcase spins 2x that.
