Victory 20w 40 users?

I bought a '09 Victory Kingpin and they use 20w 40. Any word on this stuff? Thanks

Polaris does a lot of R&D so I'm sure it's good in your Kingpin. I don't know if it's synthetic or mineral based, but either can have good heat transfer, which is what I'd be wanting in a big V-twin air cooled engine. One accessory I would get is victory's oil temp gauge dipstick. You can buy it on line or from dealership. This lets you know when the oil is hot enough to ride fast and if the oil gets too hot to slow down :~)

Nothing wrong with it; it's a overpriced OEM accessory oil.
Rotella (either flavor) or Mobil-1 15W-50 will work fine as well as most HDEO products.

Yeah, there are not many choices for 20w-40 oil. Yamaha specs it for FJRs but hardly anyone uses it. dwendt's recommendation is a good one. Can't go wrong with either of those oils.

Yeah Yamaha speced it for my bike, but even they dont make it anymore.

Just use 15w40 HDEO or 20w50 bike oil.

I run the Amsoil 20w-50 in my 06 vegas!!!

BTW, Victory engines can use any filter that will fit a Honda Accord/Civic.

is it because the thread and outside diameter are the same, where did you get the info? because i really would love to run an amsoil filter on my bike.

The threads and 'O' ring are the same.
There are 3 filters in the grouping.
Fram numbers:
6607
7317
3593A
The last is the largest, capacity wise.
Cross Reference to your favorite brand.

i have a 2008 Victory vision, and i have been using amsoil 10w40 in it. i one time went with the victory oil change kit. it came with 6 qts of oil (vision only uses 4.5) oil filter and all gaskets. but as soon as 1000 miles i felt my transmission getting notchy! So at 1700 miles i went right back to amsoil 10w40 and the shifting was Great again! and stayed that why.. just my 2 cents on the vic oil
