Veterans Day 2024

Remembrance Day here in Canada. In the Commonwealth countries, including Canada and Australia, we wear a red poppy in remembrance of our soldiers. A total of 158 Canadian soldiers lost their lives in Afghanistan.

My Father fought in WWII, I fought in Vietnam, and my son served with the 25th Infantry. A salute to all who have served.

I ran into a WWII pilot who flew a Thunderbolt in Italy at a Walgreens 2 years ago. Still going strong walking around with his wife. He confirmed 1 German shot down that he saw trailing smoke into the ground. I thanked him for his service.

At a local diner this evening, we had the honor to meet and chat with this gentleman: 103 years old. Battle of the Bulge. Purple Heart among the medals. Man, what an experience!

I was in Normandy France just a few weeks ago. Visiting the US War Memorial and cemetery has given me a deeper appreciation for those who served. Thank you all.

November 11 is also independence day in Poland.

Hope we can continue to work together with the USA.

Dad was an armorer in WWII in London then truck driver in France at the end of the war. Self served in the Army during the early sixties.
