I/we had to "sneak" the hose from my elderly and dementia grandma, so I did not have the chance to put in distilled vinegar! Only hose water, got as much out as I could, flushed it out a LOT with the hose, refilled approximately 60/40! And the coolant has stayed green, so I must have got most of the stuff out. Flushed, backflushed, water ran pretty clear.. if I had more time there would have been no doubt, Id have flushed for an hour.
My belt squeaks now, as it got wet. May need a new belt.
For a drive-in flush, I have a habit of getting distilled white vinegar as a flushing agent.
There is probably a half gallon or so of tap water in what is otherwise distilled water and Ethylene Glycol antifreeze, it appears to have finally purged itself of air as judging by expansion tank and a few days or so of a LOT of driving, and I did the best I could with the situation I was given!
And wow, that old mostly water DexSludge was dirty!!!
