Verizon Wireless Price increase w/Autopay

I would just use my home WiFi for backups of larger files and videos. To live premium one must pay the premium. I get a lot accomplished on LTE zoom/FaceTime, banking, trading, texts with pics and vid’s works just fine.
My work hotspot is Verizon 4G only and never let me down. Physically it’s from 2015. I have the original and 2 spare batteries.

If I ever get the chance to redo my life—being on-call won’t be a part of it nor any job which requires it. Bad choice that has paid dividends for my 3 employers. It’s like getting an SUV that has $650 ea tires.

I am guessing they won't be far behind with their increases coming.
Oh for sure, they all have raised prices significantly in the last year. T-Mobile perfect example.
But you dont have to be with any of them. Choose one of the great MVNOs
1. US Mobile (you get to pick Verizons premium network or T-Mobile Network) UPDATE someone just told me ATT too. (dark star)
2. Verizons own Visible Network since it is part of Verizon it is not an MVNO but great prices
3. Red Pocket (you can chose T-Mobile, ATT or Verizons network)
4. Straight Talk

I have used numbers - 1, 3, 4 over the last 15 years, all were good. Then a deal 2+ years ago with T-Mobile for seniors I got premium service for a few dollars more and 2 new iPhone 13s in exchange for our old phones. Well that deal ended, T mobile raised our rates and other requirements so it back to MVNOs which always gave perfect service. This time, because of a fellow member in here we are with US Mobile and chose Verizon network. $33 a month, two lines, shared 12GB data. Actual payment $33 for BOTH LINES COMBINED, no extra fees or taxes. They also have great deals on more data but I have it set up if we go over to Auto Top off at reasonable rates. Only once did we go over and it was an extra $12 for the month. Most of that was because of the first month I was always doing speed tests. Still, even higher amounts of data are cheap. Example if need be which my wife and I dont, we could pay by the year for 20 GB data plan (10 per line) at a cost of $36 a month.

Options are great, no need to pay the premium prices the major carrier charges. I am shocked how expensive cell phone service has become. Then again, look at the stock price of T-Mobile which I owned and now $200 a share, sadly I sold at a profit when it went up to the 140s *LOL*

I think if T-mob gets us over the barrel at some point, we will - but what happens when the big boys negotiate new contracts with these companies?

You pay more but that has always been the case. The MVNOs have gone up maybe percentage wise just as much as the MVNOs actually I am surprised how much but percentage wise the same as it always was I guess.
But the MVNOs will always be cheaper, they buy the bandwidth from Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T at wholesale and resell it to you. Many times pure profit for the majors as it's just excess bandwidth doing nothing. Other times it just the profits the majors make on their own after all their costs of serving their own primary customers.
The operations and marketing are much cheaper at the MVNOs than that of the major 3.

Meaning the way I see it, every premium service, in this case the major cell companies, make huge markups on their products, have huge marketing departments AND "GIVE AWAY" premium phones at discount prices. Much of our population cannot go out and buy a premium phone so in reality the cost is rolled into the premium service. Lets face it, we are rodents that want to show off the latest and greatest of everything and they can get (believe) the major carriers are giving them these huge discounts just by signing up for their cell service. Their brain does not want the truth, no different than buying a lottery ticket with odds of 1 in 200 million.

The MVNOs are just re-selling network access that they buy at wholesale costs, the big carriers will always make money on that as the big carriers own operations that bandwidth cost them boatloads of money as they are maintaining retail stores, vast amount of employees and commissions, latest offerings of discounted premium cell phones. So the actual cost of the 3 premiums network is very high to be profitable, they can re-sell to third parties and make just as much or more money on their networks.

BTW- the above are my thoughts pieced together from others and also reading and using these networks since around 2009 which was the last time I was with a major, until 2.5 years ago back to T-Mobile for the "deal" and now back to MVNOs again. I NEVER, EVER had an issue with ANY MVNO. I can not stress that enough. BUT THE COOL THING IS, THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE< SINCE THERE IS NO CONTRACT< SINCE YOU OWN YOUR PHONE< YOU SIGN UP WITH A NEW COMPANY THE NEXT MONTH IF YOUR UNHAPPY :giggle: (the caps are in fun!)

@Pablo I corrected some incorrect grammar but I am sure there is more*LOL*
BTW- will be interesting about Apples new iPhone release next week. The thing I was telling my wife that drives me crazy is what the heck good will AI be if TO THIS DAY SIRI can not understand and convert to text what the heck I am trying to post OR message someone. It's my one gripe with APPLE, text to speech sucks. At least with this NY accent. *LOL* Family members have the same complaint. We still live in the dark ages no matter what they tell me. Drives me freaking CrAzY 😖
Not only that, but I can ask SIRI a question and she replies "I found this on the WEB" But there is nothing there, Safari doesnt open up, pain in the neck when you are driving. Happens sometimes even in maps.

Just for amusement purposes….with Verizon, I believe you can change your phone number daily. You can look at what numbers are available 4x per day. No charge.

One can do the above, yet, only 3 replacement social security cards are allowed in a year, and 10 in a lifetime. I’m up to 2, and prefer to keep the buffer in place.

I still have my original. Over 6 decades old *LOL* Yellow but perfect condition, I was thinking about requesting a new one just to see what they look like.

Verizon is getting expensive, T-Mobile has poor coverage in rural areas (far away from cities). I'm thinking I'll stay with AT&T forever.

Sorry just realized it’s SS. I drone on below about area codes…😆

It is really dynamic. Part of my $309 iPhone 13 Pro deal was had to be a new number. I let new and old go for a month to try to do a smooth transition and not forget anything.

I’ve had a 215 mobile # since 1999. There were none available. So for fun I selected a 312 area code as I love Chicago. When we picked up the phones it had a 445 area code. I said this is gonna be like Elaine and the 646, multiply by 3 and add one to the middle, no way I’m doing 445. When I searched for available numbers there were now plenty of 215.

Here’s where I noticed what’s available is constantly changing. You can look for patterns etc that you like. I changed it 2 more times to what I have today. Also, I got (for real) calls for a Tom for at least 1 year. Someone also texted me pics for his retirement party. A friend at work told me you should respond so they know the pics didn’t reach him, which I did.

Lastly, I FORGOT to update all my 401’s and retirement plans. It was no joke getting it squared away. Now I know changing a cell will affect 2-factor authentication….can’t just call them and answer challenge questions…

You can switch to a myPlan and keep the $10 discount according to the email. We have a PlayMore plan and we would loose the free Hulu, Disney, ESPN if we switch to a myPlan though.
This is where it gets more confusing as I already have those plans yet still they are reducing the discount. I think that I have to wait until October when this goes into effect to see what plan, if any, actually keeps that discount. For now the websites shows all plans with $10/line discount as it currently is today.

US Mobile also now has ATT (Darkstar).

Been with US Mobile for a year and it has been excellent. Use VZW (warp) for every day, internal port to Tmobile for international travel, and FIL uses US Mobile ATT for an area that VZW and Tmobile doesn't work well. Their reddit support is top notch.

T-Mobile has gotten better but I agree AT&T is very good for rural coverage.
Yeah, I think, even myself remember the days back on Long Island, NY MANY years ago. T-Mobile was a DOG of a phone service. Horrible.
However just ended a 2 year deal with them and I was VERY impressed how far they have come. Though I dont live in NY anymore, the two states where I do/did live with T-Mobile service was FAR more rural here in the South than anywhere up in NY and the service was better in many respects than Verizon here now. Let me expand on that. Verizon is great, rural area, it works much better inside stores and buildings than T-Mobile did. Used to be frustrating shopping with my wife in many stores as we couldnt call each other OR for example if I wanted to check a product on the web like in a HomeDepot I could not or inside my dentist office, sucks when you cant use your phone and you sit there like a drone waiting to be taken in.
Verizon works in all these places but it's all LTE network and even though sometimes a weak signal it always works. T-Mobile on the other hand when it did work the data was faster so it was kind of like a draw but for us. Verizon rules for coverage.

On to AT&T my past "love" all the way back to 2002 and everything in-between, except for few exceptions (including now) between NY and SC ATT service to us was flawless. I traveled many rural areas of the state of SC, areas you would hope you did not break down in, some places dirt roads and tree branches hitting your truck. ATT was a dead Heat with my work provided Verizon phone.
For about a decade, maybe more, we use ATT MVNO providers, never an issue. The company seems to get no respect anymore, now that T-Mobile has climbed the ladder to success. We have been off AT&T MVNOs for 2.5 years now after about 10 straight years (first with straight talk, then red pocket) it never let us down.

(now on US Mobile with Verizon)

I got the same notice. I am fed up with Verizon. I have 7 lines, friends and family on my plan and the juice just ain’t worth the squeeze anymore.

I should prob just move to spectrum mobile and bundle it with my cable. Verizon coverage as of late isn’t what it used to be. They really need to fix some of the antennas near me.
Same here in central NY.

Doesn’t spectrum use VZW towers?

Thanks for the reminder! We use Warp too. We will be overseas for a few weeks later this year and to the best of my knowledge I will have to get GSM with another overseas provider, seems VERY simple and will use a second electronic sim to use in Asia.

Some day when I am bored, maybe mid to late winter I might for fun try the US mobile online switching to see how it works. No reason to other than fun but who knows maybe it is even better where we live, though no complaints with Verizon other than a weak spot here and there but the coast here is very rural (rapidly growing) still
With US mobile I think if I choose the T-Mobile or ATT or maybe even if I stay with Verizon, I can purchase right on the US mobile website a second overseas sim on my online US mobile portal to use over there. Haven't looked into it yet.

What is FIL?
When you say internal port to TMobile is that through US Mobile for international? I haven't much looked into it but have to soon.

According to their website: If you are on a myPlan (Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus, and Unlimited Ultimate) you should continue to get the $10 discount.

Which plans are getting the Auto Pay discount decrease?

No sooner than 10/10/24, these plans will have a decreased Auto Pay discount amount:

I have 7 phone lines so I always get either an AT&T or Verizon small business plan as it's so much cheaper than the general consumer plans. I wonder if those Verizon small business plans are affected by the price increase as when I used to have Verizon, I had gotten generous per line autopay discounts (see link below):
