According to that website, they are well on their way. But, I like others, still have the dark days on the brain. I will admit, their cars are getting better looking.

Thanks for all the support, guys.

I need to get back here more often. Sadly, I've become dependent on email notifications, and this forum doesn't appear to send them.

It looks like the August results will include about 52 models, plus another 40 or so asterisked results (for sample sizes between 15 and 24).

I'd love to cover more older cars, but unfortunately I cannot control which cars get signed up.

Initially I wasn't going to go earlier than 1998. But I now have 25 1997 Civics signed up, so I have to make a decision there. If I note with the results that maintenance history becomes a larger and larger factor as cars get older, such that the results for older cars are not as accurate, would that be sufficient?

Bear in mind that most people ignore all such explanations.

We have data on thousands of vehicles and over 20 years of this stuff. Our results don't always follow those surveys done with the public giving their responses without hard data. I think it's a very difficult task and by the way they collect data it's hard to argue with their results, you just don't know for sure.

The owner of the data says its not for sale. I can only talk in general terms because I can't show the actual data. Several here have flamed me for making statements about the data under those circumstances so mostly I don't say anything. Someone did ask what was our most reliable vehicle over the past five years and it's the Prius by a very big margin.

Looks like the November results will include about 65 models, and another 55 or so with an asterisk for marginal sample size.

I've had quite a few people sign up from this forum. Thanks. Whenever I come across a discussion of oil, I try to return the favor by refering people to this site. It's a great resource.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

The panel passed the 20,000 vehicle mark yesterday, with the most recent 1,000 joining in the last 18 days. So momentum continues to build.

Members received a preview of preliminary results last week. Official results will be posted early next month. They'll include the 2008 Buick Enclave, proving how quickly TrueDelta's process can provide results. JD Power won't have reliability information on the Enclave until around June, and CR won't have any until this time next year.

Those of you who have been helping out, thanks for making this possible. Right now I'm focusing on getting as many 2008s into the February results. If you know someone who buys a 2008 car, especially one that is a new design for 2008, please let them know about the research.

In response to requests, I just added a new section where common repairs can be posted. Once there are enough posted owners will be able to report whether or not their car had this repair, and we'll get a sense of how common they really are.

For example, how common is sludge?

The hard part is getting the database filled. If people here know of a common problem with a car, please enter it. If the problem has been discussed here or in another forum you like, you can enter that in a "forum thread link" field.

Latest update in a week or so. Nearly 5,000 responses to last month's survey, and I know there were a few people from here among them. Thanks, guys.

Additional participants still very much needed. Many models are just a few responses short of being included in the results.
