Not sure if this should be here or in the off topic section. My wife and I are moving from Oregon to California in a couple weeks, I'm not going to be taking my ranger with me as it doesn't have air conditioning and the city we are moving to gets quite hot. We'd prefer to buy a vehicle in Oregon to avoid California sales tax while we still can, plus it would be handy to have another vehicle to move our belongings. Taking the ranger and selling it in CA is out of the question. It would likely be harder to sell since it doesn't have AC and it's a beater in the first place.
Since we do move soon, how do you all think it would be best to handle the registration situation? I can either wait a few weeks until we're settled in our new home and register with CA plates, or I can register in OR and essentially waste $250. The vehicle I'm leaning towards is registered in WA, just to add another layer of apparent difficulty.
Am I making this out to be more than it is?
