I know, I know, but I still have one-just to tape shows for the wife.

The issue now is that certain DTV stations will not come up at all.

Ideas?

Yep...I have the TV hooked up to the VCR, DVD player, and a PS2.

I'm wondering if it needs to be hooked up to the converter box...

Never mind, it is.

The VCR has an anolog tuner. I think in order to record, you'll have to use the Video and audio inputs on the VCR and the same outputs from the converter box.

Of course, this means recording the channel on the recorder box. No watching one channel and recording another.

We have a cheapie dvd recorder, and it's noisy when you play some rental/library discs, but records rather well. We have a vcr for when the library only has tape of a movie available.

VCR? What's that?

I remember back in the late 80's/early 90's when every gas station and corner drug store had movies to rent, in addition to the 4 "movie stores" around town. Were that many people renting movies back then? Then all of a sudden in the mid/late 90's that all went away.

Now you're lucky to find 1 movie store in most towns.

The local library (aka the new blockbuster), Netflix and Redbox is hitting blockbuster stores in the face!

Make sure your convertor box doesn't shut down after 4 hours. Most of the energy star ones do by default, but you can override.

I read something about this years ago- it seems that from the beginning of DVD availability, people bought DVDs instead of renting them. The article had no real explanation for this, but it has held true for years and now VCR/DVD rental stores have dwindled to a tiny fraction of what they once were. We have one locally, another in the next town, & I haven't rented a movie in years. That'll teach 'em to keep moving things around so I can't find anything!

Cool, are those special VCRs made for bus/rv use?

I still use the VCR once in a while when I need to record something. The nice thing about tapes is you can record it and watch it on another tv.

Yep. Controllable by a head unit, and a "dew protector" so as to not blow it up after you just fired up the bus in the morning. The new design does have a DVD player, but only New York to Toronto (NEON) service gets those exclusively... What burns me the most is that the drivers who do that run NEVER play a DVD...
