Hey fellas, just curious if any of you would feel comfortable running Valvoline Conventional 10w30 in a supercharged Jaguar XJS? Will it be okay for about 4k miles? The car stays parked most of the time but gets pulled out for longish trips, basically no short trips. Safe?

How much did the car cost? I would feel weird using a dino in that kind of car with a supercharged motor. In fact if i knew you i would offer to buy you a syn. oil for Christmas present early.

I'd stick with syn to be safe. Heck... PP for 20 bucks at Wally World. Can't beat that.

What does the manual suggest? Just wondered? Dino in an high end car does sound a little strange...

+1, With PP being $20 for 5 quarts (not to mention the rebate) why not use it? Heck I use it in my corolla which is probably overkill though.

hmm... I can see why everyone would say go syn. This car belongs to my pops who is retired (and drives like a retiree lol). The current fill is XD-3 0w40 but he wants to change it out right now, even though it's only gone through about half it's life.... u know how some people get - it's been in there for a long time and they get uncomfortable going over 4000kms! So I didnt want to get some killer syn so he can change it out early... maybe PP would suffice, even if it got changed early, it wouldnt be such a waste?

Valvoline dino would be just fine. I used it in my 300ZX turbo and the engine and turbo on that car were both in impeccable condition at close to 200k when I sold her to get my 3000GT. But,i`m still a 3 month/3000 mile guy, whether it`s syn or dino, but I prefer dino.

A supercharged engine is not the same as a turbocharged one.
The oil gets much hotter with a turbo.
A dino would work fine with a supercharged stock engine.
