I suppose it is safe to assume that you are one of the "Valvoline has a weak add pack" people?

I am! Look at the VOAs/UOAs here... especially All-Climate, Durablend and Synpower. Use the search box in both of thos forums & read the analysis numbers. Plus there are other searches here that can locate a couple of oil weights where Group I is used in All Climate.

The wear numbers look OK/fine, but why pay that price when the same wear numbers/engine quietness can be found for less money. Never said it was a bad oil - just said that for the price, there are better money values out there.

I'll do my future replies to Valvoline questions using the personal message service here. It seems the Valvoline lovers here continue to ignore the search functions here at BITOG for finding All Climate, Durablend and Synpower weak add-packs in UOAs/VOA forums here.

BTW... "weak" means there are better money values for the price you just paid for that particular Valvoline oil. Much like Mobil-1 and the contoversy surrounding it, a majority of BITOGERs are concerned with & only purchase oils that are of good money value. If you want to pay premium prices for house-brand add-packs containing a precentage of lower group oils for higher percentage group oil prices.... go for it - it's your wallet.

Sorry moderators for the blunt reply... I'm now forever done with talking Valvoline (non-Maxlife) publically here.

Well said. Valvoline rarely goes on sale here and at most outlets it will sell for 2.89qt. I don't consider it a bad oil and have used it in the past but there are better oils for less money in my opinion.

Actually I have searched the UOA section quite extensively. And what I see, of the relatively few Valvoline UOA's, is that Valvoline performs just as well as the other oils that are touted as "robust". I, on the other hand, have not done many searches in the VOA section because I have read a few posts on this site from people who actually work in the oil analysis field that say that the VOA's that we see here do not show how well an oil is or is not formulated. However, just like you, I do not intend to discuss the "weak add pack" thing any more. It is pointless and has become as tiring as the "Pennzoil causes sludge"arugement.

What's a Valvoline bash post going to be without Triple_Se7en

We have a small fleet of medium to heavy duty work and delivery trucks at my work, all the gasoline engines get Valvoline AC with Fram filters (not my choice).

Our gasoline fleet consists of several 2001-2004 Ford F350-450 w/ 6.8L V10's with ~50k, all running fine. Our main workhorse for delivering stuff has been a 1990 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4 w/ 5.7L V8. It has well over 160k miles and runs a like a top, thoroughly abused.

Also had a 1992 F250 w/ 7.6L V8 with over 180k before it was sold. It now has close to 240k.

Only failure was we had a guy blow a 1982 Chevy Silverado 7.5L V8 motor (engine seized) by running it down the interstate @ 75mph quite a ways in second gear (gear selector was off one notch, so D would be 2, person didn't know better). Not sure if a better oil would have prevented this.
