Valvoline Synpower Power Steering Fluid?

I just picked up two quarts of Valvoline SynPower Power Steering Fluid for 10 cents at Mijers ans was wondering if its any good? It says that it meets GM spec. 9985010, Chrysler spec. 5931 and Ford spec. m2c128c. Any thoughts?

Is it really that bad?

It is very good. I used it in my VW, Chevy, Ford, and Toyota with no problem.

I think you got an incredible bargain! I think a lot of stores stock oils and other automotive fluids with no knowledge of what will sell.

I run a 50/50 mix of that Valvoline SynPower Power Steering Fluid and their Valvoline MaxLife Power Steering Fluid in my old Camaro. Works great.

Can I use that stuff in a Subaru?

It doesn't say any were that you can't it only says that you can't use it in Honda/Acura

So long as your Subaru doesn't require ATF, or if you have the "Subaru cybrid" steering system, Valvoline SynPower Power Steering Fluid will be fine.

Subaru cybrid fluid is unique stuff.

ATF has more additives than PSF, so only replace ATF with ATF.

afaik, SynPower is nothing special in the cold, which says something. I use ATF+4 in most PSF apps.

I've been using it in my '01 Grand Prix with good results. I also had it in my '96 Roadmaster Wagon but a couple of times the powersteering wouldn't work on cold mornings. I did an ARX clean and flushed the wagon with Red Line pwr steering fluid and it has been good since.

You got a good deal, if it meets your spec.'s you might as well give it a try. If you don't like it you won't be out much. Chances are it will work.

FYI: Valvoline no longer makes SynPower power steering fluid, so I guess the store was clearing out the old stock.

I just put some in the freezer and I'm going to see how it dose in a cold poor test.
