Valvoline SynPower Group III or IV?

Anyone know if Valvoline SynPower is a Group III or IV? I can't find many references to it here on the board. How would it compare to Pennzoil Platinum and M1?

IMHO, Valvoline does a very good job of marketing a line of automotive lubricants and chemicals.

But when paying over $4 a quart for motor oil, I'd choose a full synthetic such as M1 or Pennzoil Platinum. And M1 in particular, if any extended drains over 6K-7K are anticipated.

Look for Synpower to perform on a level with other mostly Grp III premium formulations such as Castrol Syntec or Quaker State Q Synthetic.

According to the MSDSs not all grades of Synpower are the same.
From the current listings at the Valvoline site it shows the
following CAS numbers:

20w50 has about 70% of 68037-01-4

5w30 and 10w30 have about 58% of 64742-54-7

5w20 shows about 10% of 68037-01-4 (they don't tell the other CAS numbers)

Some time ago I researched these CAS numbers at this site.
It showed that the 20w50 is mostly PAO, whereas the majority
of the 5w30 and 10w30 are Group III. But maybe Valvoline
made a mistake. Hard to imagine a Synpower PAO 20w50.

I would think that the 5w30 and 5w20 would have more PAO than a 20W50. Do you know that those CAS numbers represent the PAO?
I kind of quit using Valvoline after finding this board, but have recently started using it again because of all the free and discounted oil via rebates. I have been using Maxlife, Durablend, and Synpower for the winter in my F150. All seem to do well. I have never had any problems with Valvoline in any of the vehicles I have had. It is really popular in MN. Might not be the best, but it definitely does the job.

Chevron is a major producer of fully hydrocracked Grp III base oils.

I just searched the CAS numbers on this site and found some postings, I think, by MolaKule that indicated what the CAS numbers referred to. Actually, I think 64742-54-7 can be Group II, II+, or III. The other one it think is strictly PAO. But there may be other CAS numbers for PAO and or Group III. For sure, though, there appears to be a difference between some of the grades.
