I have come to the realization that most readily availble synthetics are Group III base. I have also seen posts of a very good base oil, XHVI. Which synthetics use this base. Also, in Valvoline Synpower Group IV? What to do? Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Syntec, Valvoline Synpower, Stick with Mobil 1? What to do? Help!!!

Relax, none of them are bad choices. Valvoline is Grp III as is PP and Castrol Syntec and due to a lack of plausible deniability, Mobil 1. PP seems to have leading edge technology and can be had for great prices while I am really impressed with Syntec. Valvoline is probably really good too.

Buy on price!

Assuming that they meet GF4 Specs they all meet GM specs for a Corvette(5w30 grades)
I would say They will perform
The SAME until you run some used oil analysis and test them out and see which one performs better in your vehicles and application I would base it on price.

PP and Syntec or my favorites right now followed closely by the Synpower. I am suspicious of Mobil 1's ability to protect against cam wear due to tidbits that have been dropped here and there from a respected analyst.
