Valvoline Synpower 5w-30 and a Purolator Classic

I just changed oil in my mother's Camry and I was wondering what you thought of my oil choice? I'm normally a Pennzoil guy but this time I thought I'd try something different.

I just put in Synpower (5w20) for the first time in my car. Great deal after the rebate.

SynPower is a fine choice. I would have used a PureOne instead of a Classic, but there's nothing bad about a Classic.

Just did the same on my 98 Volvo V70XC turbo. Usually use PP. Got a good price on the oil, so why not. We'll see.

Yeah, I should of went with the Pure One but she only gets her oil changed every 2-3 years. She only drives about five miles a day plus out of town once a week. It takes her that long to build up 5k miles on the oil.

That driving pattern calls for more frequent oil changes based on time, not miles in my book

Yes, I should change it once a year regardless of mileage.

Hemi- you should be changing her oil at least once a year. Whether its 2,000 miles or 5,000. Go with the pure one filter and the Syn Power for a good once a year change and you will have no problems whatsoever. Your probably fine doing it how you are now but Im a little oil OCD.
