Is this additive beneficial? I am currently running Mobil 1 5w30, and would mind trying something different. Will this thicken my oil, possibly making it more "Slippery" than it is? May be overkill, but could also be cheap insurance to my vehicls.

The new one or old one. Yeah, it's loaded with goodies but for the average driver using Mobil 1 it's kinda redundant....

That must explain why I have a stash of it and SLOB......lol

You don't have to pour the whole bottle in. 1/3 -1/2 would be fine. Consider it extra insurance, and probably a little more slippery.
Additives have been reduced with newer oils. VSOT is one of the better off the shelf additives.
It will make the oil [end result] a hair thicker - out of the bottle it is very thick.

That is an oxymoron. Thick oil is not more slippery. Thick oil removes more energy from a system than thin oil. If you want thick oil, buy thick oil.
