Valvoline Restore and Protect

I just sent two 5W-30 jugs to my brother for his birthday.
Amazon, $29.95/w free shipping. He has a 2005 Ford F250 with 80,000 miles on it.

I'm not sure which engine is in it, but 5W-20 Valvoline got him to this point.

I read on here, quite a few people recommending Valvoline Restore and Protect engine oil. With it just coming out, do you have any significant evidence of the claims it makes?
I have read on other forums where it has quieted noisy engines, looking through the valve cover is cleaner, another one is where they used a bore scope on a Toyota engine..
Curious if any of you all seen any evidence..

Thanks..
Yes, it works. It does what it claims if you follow the directions and have the time to wait. It is Valvoline's best-premium gas engine oil according to Valvoline themselves. For it to get to the point where you may be able to see a difference, you need four oil and filter changes of at least 4000 miles each. That is a minimum of 16,000 miles use before the Valvoline Restore and Protect might cause an improvement in your engine's cleanliness and performance. It won't fix broken or wore out parts, or "heal" worn out valve seals. There is plenty of online legitimate documentation and videos showing that it does work. It is a slow but legitimate process, a good engine oil. Some say it is hard to find on the shelves lately. You can order directly from Valvoline's website, the more you order, the cheaper the price up to a point. They have it delivered to your door, free shipping.

I wonder why they are selling for a higher price than Amazon?
Or is that a Canadian website?

Even though what you posted is almost verbatim to what Valvoline states in it's information release, it's not a sudden "improvement" @ 16,000 miles.
What I mean is that some cleaning starts to happen immediately, and I have the posted the photos that show that (what I believe) to be the case.
Also, as others have posted, some benefits are noticeable from the start, such as quieter or smoother operation. Naturally, these are not quantifiable results, but human impressions.

So, you're right, a good engine oil with slow improvement right from its first use.

All I am saying is it can be ordered off their website directly. I not sure I have ever seen a major brand oil company put out "lower, better" prices on their lubricants or fuels! Their retailers do that kind of thing trying to move a product and compete with other retailers I would guess. Plus, some of the store branded generic oils are lower priced, like Supertech at Walmart or O'Reily's store brand. I am guessing Valvoline just set up an online store so people that want their products in areas where the local retailers don't sell it can get it.

Maybe it's a regional thing and they're out in my area. Might try to VPN and see. Where are you?

DC area. Maryland & Northern Virginia.
It is listed as sold by Walmart, not a third party.

You didn't show us enough on the screenshot, but I suspect that's a reseller on the Walmart website, not sold by Walmart.
You're correct. Sold by Valvoline. Still can't get it to show me any Walmart 5w30.

I just changed my oil and got a jug of Mobil 1 Advanced Clean for super cheap. So I'm probably good for another 10-12 months. But debating if I should try and snag another jug of Valvoline Restore and Protect if I can get it for 30.

I read a comment by an oil distributor a few days ago that thinks the ring cleaning ability comes from the base oil technology rather than an additive. They also said that the 5W-30 Noack was tested to be close to 15% and couldn’t quality for Dexos even if they wanted to pay for it/disclose the formula, but that the level of solvency needed to break down the deposits resulted in a somewhat volatile formulation.

Probably gonna get some laugh emojis out of that but I thought it was an interesting theory.

I would think that ExxonMobil would have just about everything figured out by now on base oil tech. I believe even Valvoline themselves said it was an additive they accidentally discovered. We know too that there is no ester in it.
