It's what TiGeo needs....White Monster? Haven't we had the talk about additives yet?

From Blacksone Labs. Why the Motor Oil Geek calls (in the UOA) Silicon, a Silicone and says it's from RTV/sealants.
But in previous videos has said Silicon is from break-in pistons rings and cylinder walls.
However, we didn't see many visuals especially after the test. The biggest NON-nothing burger was the test results showing reduced fuel contamination in the oil. All attributed to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
The bottom of the piston was a pretty good visual. Same with the piston ring groove area. However, we didn't see many visuals especially after the test.
My used oil analysis for a few of my vheicles show this well as it correlated directly with repairs/engine work that included sealant. I know HPL has about 10ppm VOA in the Euro 5W-40 I use so I always back it out.
Right, but the thing is that silicon in the UOA means piston rings and cylinder walls wear. Those wear not only during the break-in process but constantly. These engines have 500,000 miles. They aren't breaking in...
LSJr was saying the silicon was decreasing on each UOA because of the use of new sealant when the engine was reassembled. Doesn't mean there wasn't also some silicon from rings or other sources also in the mix.Right, but the thing is that silicon in the UOA means piston rings and cylinder walls wear. Those wear not only during the break-in process but constantly.
It can come from myriad sources including, but not limited to, sealants, gaskets, air intake tract leaks (sand), bimetal bearings, alumasil liners...etc. The UOA doesn't tell you where it comes from, only that it's present.Right, but the thing is that silicon in the UOA means piston rings and cylinder walls wear. Those wear not only during the break-in process but constantly.
Is your expectation that Mobil will be forthcoming about formulation details of Advanced Clean?I think it will be real cool to see LSjr go into details regarding Mobil 1 Advance Clean & how it may or may not compare to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
Given that Vavoline hasn't, it would make Mobil's product stand out.Is your expectation that Mobil will be forthcoming about formulation details of Advanced Clean?
He would have to do a long drawn out testing program on a real engine like Valvoline did. Maybe Mobil will do a similar engine testing program in their lab to prove it cleans like Valvoline Restore and Protect, but my feeling is the Mobil won't measure up based on how Mobil is advertising it at this point.I think it will be real cool to see LSjr go into details regarding Mobil 1 Advance Clean & how it may or may not compare to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
The closest they'll come to giving the recipe is saying they have new, superduper, Ring Sparkle X23 or something. Like McDonald's Big Mac Special Sauce. It's just Thousand Island dressing, but they aren't going to tell you that.Given that Vavoline hasn't, it would make Mobil's product stand out.
Not exactly, However, if there is any new information that can be obtained or relevant actual testing data shown that Mr Speed can show us that would be cool. Not really interested in formulation, unless shared, but rather the outcome or results of using the product based on their "Advanced Clean" labeling. Also, On the flip side, if the potential future video is a total bust & only marketing then I think that'll give me an answer as well.Is your expectation that Mobil will be forthcoming about formulation details of Advanced Clean?
Yeah, I agree, Valvoline Restore and Protect is a great product & seeing Mobil 1 come out with "Advanced Clean" as a competing sales product, they'd need to have something to show us if we want to use their product. I commented previously regarding this new offering & mentioned that I thought it might be a compromise to get their 20,000 mile claim. But we know Mobil has the resources to do vehicle testing of their oil. It would be nice to see what Mobil will offer Mr Speed?. Curiosity is getting the best of me!He would have to do a long drawn out testing program on a real engine like Valvoline did. i know that ages ago...i was talking about specifically downshifting clearing the rings, as you mentionedHit the highway......that will get the oil good and hot with a decent load on the engine and rings.
Keep the rpms ups 3-4k
a White Monster.
you need additives?t's what TiGeo needs....
I'm just not sure what "details" can be gotten into without knowledge of the respective formulas, both of which are proprietary. We have Valvoline's data, that continues to be added to, about the effectiveness of Valvoline Restore and Protect, we have effectively nothing from Mobil, so it's not apparent to me that there will be a lot of details available that could be analyzed in a comparative fashionNot exactly, However, if there is any new information that can be obtained or relevant actual testing data shown that Mr Speed can show us that would be cool. Based on his other videos, I have a feeling it'll be another $30 used oil analysis comparison video, after 3 rips on the dyno, and all the armchair experts will take away all the wrong conclusions. One of them will have 1 ppm lower iron and it'll be declared the victor.I think it will be real cool to see LSjr go into details regarding Mobil 1 Advance Clean & how it may or may not compare to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
Agree. We would have seen piston photos with the product release, like Valvoline did.but my feeling is the Mobil won't measure up based on how Mobil is advertising it at this point.
I think it'll be great oil but Mobil is probably just capitalizing on the marketshare of Valvoline Restore and Protect w/o the real benefits like piston ring cleaning. I believe it will show some cleaning value however. Time will tell!Based on his other videos, I have a feeling it'll be another $30 used oil analysis comparison video, after 3 rips on the dyno, and all the armchair experts will take away all the wrong conclusions. It would need to be a real world test similar to what Valvoline has done. Hundreds of thousands of miles and then an engine teardown. I don't see that happening.
Even if it's not comparable to Restore & Protect it would be nice to learn anything more than just the marketing. Is Mobil willing to share anything more? Time will tell! However, I really don't think it's comparable to the Valvoline Product & seems Mobil just wants to have a quick release product with a name that may fool some buyers into thinking it's comparable. Mobil's Advanced Clean may do a decent job of cleaning up some layers but not to the point of Valvoline Restore and Protect. I don't know, what I don't know yet outside of my speculation & this forum talk.I'm just not sure what "details" can be gotten into without knowledge of the respective formulas, both of which are proprietary.
