Valvoline Restore and Protect

Where is this "talking down"? Always?

Hahahahahhaha

Because someone doesn't need a magic elixir, we are now talking down. Wow.
I’m pretty sure most naysayers were not the boutique oil enthusiast. Just another way to project insecurity onto people that like boutique? 🤷‍♂️

I ran the Valvoline Restore and Protect to 5500 miles on our 2018 Audi Q7 3.0 supercharged engine on the last run before changing and didnt notice it got any noisier or less smooth. It was still running so smooth, I'd have to look at the tach to see if the engine was running or not or if I had even started it before taking off. The engine literally has no vibration or noises to tell me its running. Quite the contrast to when we bought it when it was gobbling a quart of oil in 400 miles, was down on power & fuel mileage with the dealer supplied Castrol Euro 5w-40 in the crankcase. With the Valvoline Restore and Protect it's done better and better with every change after the initial Berrymans B12 piston soak and BG EPR single flush. I'm still planning to run Valvoline Restore and Protect forever in this Euro SUV at 5-6000 mile intervals along with all of our vehicles.
This was a great example of a product that lived up to it's marketing hype. I love how that word gets used. Usually, to many people, marketing means = they're lying. Well we found out they're not. Not only via lab controlled tests, but videos of how they conducted the testing at their engine lab, photos of pistons and just the majority of users that report oil consumption reduction. It's clearly one of the best oils to ever come out IMO (despite lack of long drain/high performance specs). As I said before all of the oils on the market, including boutique, are technically nothing new. Valvoline Restore and Protect is actually new technology.

Amsoil is also claiming "revolutionary" change for their next SS update. Then we have Mobil 1 Active Clean?.....competition...we all win.

It really is a game changer. Boutiques still have a firm hold on severe service, racing, and extended drains, but for 90+% of drivers this $29 oil at Wally is unbeatable.

Couple of weeks ago I sent an email to Cummins in the UK requesting a quote for some Valvoline Premium Blue Restore for our Transporter & Volvo.

Well today I had a phone call from a technical manager within Valvoline here in the UK who has just returned from the US learning about Valvoline Restore and Protect. It's coming to the UK around February and will come in higher viscosity options more suited to our engines. In the meantime, they're going to try find me a sample to try!

I'm so excited! :ROFLMAO:

Good post. And kudos to Valvoline!

I personally prefer to extend my OCIs, but that didn’t stop me from trying this oil out on my high mileage daily driver. In fact, it may reverse some of my ignorant oil choices during past extended intervals (“run clean” vs deposit risk)

I figure the worst that could happen is somehow it starts consuming more oil because it cleans up areas around engine seals. That’s it. Because I won’t be trying to use it for extended OCIs and know its limitations wrt that.

I’m hopeful the Fit’s engine simply has a slow rear main leak and it isn’t adversely affected. In that case, I’ll probably go with trying that ATP product Scotty always promotes and re-set my goals if consumption goes up there.

Best case? Improved engine efficiency if some piston ring cleaning occurs; reduction in the current mild consumption rate as a bonus.

Of course, it’s possible both the rear main leak gets worse and the engine efficiency improves.

🫠

At 350k miles, I don’t mind it being a guinea pig. 😅😂

PS: By the time I’m done running the “4 minimum OCIs” a year from now, I’m excited to swap back and hopefully be able to try Amsoil’s updated Signature Series!

And so are we! When it arrives, please post photos of the jug-both front and back.

If it's early enough in February, we're talkin' St. Valentine's Day gifting.

"But Honey, it's Valvoline Restore and Protect...from the States!

... Especially filters for some reason.
I'm getting through a second midlife crisis because Pentius remains mysterious about its US resellers and has my Kia's filter only available on fleabay from Australia for $9.99 with $27 shipping. Those who have never sinned - cast the first stone at my justified wrath !

I know one that’s over the top. But many here get emotionally attached to different brands. Especially filters for some reason.
I personally use Mobil 1.

I don't like brand hopping too much I like to stick to 1 oil that both of my engines seem to like and Mobil 1 High Mileage is that oil, been actually considering trying the Amsoil high mileage in my Chevy 4.3 for nor particular reason more out of curiosity.

As for oil filters I run OEM for now, might give the new Mobil 1 oil filter a shot on my 4.3, I did once run the Microgard Select I just didn't like the fact that it has a bypass valve when the 4.3 has a bypass valve built in, FRAM Endurance was another I used on it.

I was using Amazon but the last case I bought was $51, now it’s $90. They’re on to us….

Amazon doesn't have it for my Kia.
And don't get me started on Mobil 1 filters. They only make them to tease me, as they don't make them for my cars neither. WRATH !!!

Pablo is butthurt you might need some Amsoil for it.

Previous thread where I replied to you has multiple examples including yourself.
I never once talked down Valvoline Restore and Protect. Not once. In fact, pretty sure I've not seen anyone else talking down Valvoline Restore and Protect. But it's entirely possible I missed a post or two.

If you think pointing out that maybe someone doesn't need a product is "talking down", well I have a pound of hypocrisy for free.

This will be a really interesting experiment to run. Look forward to seeing updates.

Do you (or @Pablo) have any links on this? I'm curious now... It was already so good.
