I have about 2000 miles on my first Valvoline Restore and Protect oil change on 06 mustang gt. It’s time to go in storage for a couple months. Should I change the oil now or just do it in spring time like I normally do?

Can you explain your concern as to why you would want to change it? Especially in regards to your thread title, that it is Valvoline Restore and Protect.

The old rule of thumb was to change the oil before storing a vehicle. The idea being, to get rid of any corrosive contaminants in the oil. Oils have acid buffers, though, so that should protect. Regarding storage, 2 months hardly qualifies. I'd leave the oil. Maybe set up a battery tender of some sort, though.

Probably not critical, but for my "fun" car that gets parked over winter, I do an annual oil change before it goes into storage. I only see < 2000 miles per year, so I am likley dumping good oil. Having fresh oil for storage just makes me feel better.

Just asking the question, just not familiar with Valvoline Restore and Protect. Sounds like I’ll just treat it like normal
Thanks

2000 miles, take it for a good drive, 30 minutes or longer and put it away. You can change it next year before you put it away if you drive it close to what you've driven this year.

You’re fine leaving that oil for the winter storage, it’s still new enough that it’s really not going to be that contaminated. I have about 2500 miles on the oil in my Corvette and I’m not changing it before winter (although I will likely be driving it every couple of weeks all winter anyway, unless we have a bad winter like last year, but those winters are rare)

We'd deploy for weeks to 6 months and many of us would park in a designated area. Nobody's engine fell out or failed from old oil. The worst was dead batteries or extremely low tires, and we planned ahead for that.

Yeah all good I’ve been storing cars for 20 years. My question was directly related to leaving Valvoline restore and protect in for a couple months, being a somewhat different oil than I’m used
