I think I am going to start to do that, my ES 350 has a cartridge filter so I can see everything inside but for my other vehicles, I am going to start cutting oil filters to see inside.I’ll have to purchase a filter cutter. I might do that. Filter was a Purolator Boss PBL14610
Oil consumption has gone from 1.5 qts per 5,000 miles down to 1/8 qt through 3,000 miles … so I’m led to believe it’s cleaning up the piston rings as advertised… no other way to explain the dramatic reduction in oil burn. That was cut and pasted from one of the posts from the OP.Good report, was it burning a lot of oil?
Between 200,000 miles and 340,000 miles , yes it was. Worst case was 2 quarts per 5,000 miles. I found a small oil leak where my mechanic found it leaking around the base of where my oil filter base attached to the engine. He corrected it. Then that brought it down to about 1.5 quarts per 5k and no leaks. Mobil 1 EP High mileage and Pennzoil UP didn’t reduce the oil burn. VR&P has done a fantastic job at oil burn reductionGood report, was it burning a lot of oil?
Can you link it. I wanna read what that trog said about it.Great report! Glad to hear that the VR&P is doing what it's supposed to be doing at freeing up those oil control rings and cleaning the pistons and rings up. According to Rat540, the VR&P will completely wear the engine out and blow it up, F'n dipshilt...

With this many miles… maybe it’s just that there is no iron left in the engine! LOL!Only 3 iron . Impressive.
Wow, very impressive. Has the VR&P exposed any leaks? That's my big concern with a cleaning oil used in an older engine. No sir. Oil looked relatively clean and wasn’t dark black. So I was satisfied that it was still filtering and functioning properly. Hard to tell otherwise. Analysis came back better than expected at the 1.8 ppm wear metals per 1000 miles. Engine has 348,000 miles and is on its 2nd round of VR&P (3,000 miles in). Gonna go 6,000 miles on this round. Actual composition of the second round is 4 qts of 5w-20 R&P and 1 qt Valvoline 5w-30 Extended Protection High Mileage. Lovin it so far!!
No leaks whatsoever. I just had it up on the lift getting a brake job last week and my mechanic and I looked it over real well. Bone dry on the bottom side of engine and oil pan. Looked great.Wow, very impressive. Has the VR&P exposed any leaks? That's my big concern with a cleaning oil used in an older engine.
