VOA for Nextgen 10w30.

Looks like a decent add pack to me. Seems sort of "dirty" though with lead, iron, tin, aluminum showing up. Viscosity starts fairly low. Can't figure out why no potassium showed up even though on the PQI analysis they list 10 ppm.

Thanks! Lots of zinc, and yes, it does look a little contaminated. I wonder if the labs actually clean the instrumentation properly or if it happens somewhere during the shipping of bulk finished lube?? Either way looks good, I would sure use it.

I agree. Sn at 3 ppm is somewhat of an eyebrow raiser though.

At 50% recycled that is not a surprise, is it?

Being recycled has nothing to do with the contaminates. Used oil is a heck of a lot cleaner than crude oil. They re-refine the used oil so theres no contaminates.

I like the zinc but have to agree with you guys that it doesn't look like that spectacular of an additive pack.

No Boron. No Moly.

I wonder if it has Antimony? probably not.

I'd use it, but only because I add my own additives.

I just guessing please correct me if i'm wrong. Yes there is no moly. But the increased levels of Zinc more than make up for that. Aren't Moly and Zinc both friction modifiers.

General Rant:
You cant look at VOA anymore and know whats "really" in the oil. This aint 1970. Oils can use Sulphurised ISobutylenes which are ashless. Ashless means NO METALS. Sodium is a metal, Zinc is a metal as is Boron(metalloid) and Moly. You guys (not you directly TOPO) see a cheap "classic" addpack with 260ppm moly and 180ppm Boron and think its great stuff. Sorta sad bitogers - sorta sad

i wouldn't use it. I see no point when i can buy UNUSED oil for cheaper

Is that zinc difference just between 10w30 and 5w30 or am I missing something? If the 10w30 really has that much zinc I'm thinking my Jeep would love this stuff.
