Valvoline multi-vehicle

Got a 2024 6.6 Duramax and want to change out the coolant. The local Valvoline shop uses the Valvoline Multi-vehicle coolant for everything. I figured since they have the machine to flush out the whole system (radiator, block, heater core (and I would assume oil cooler)) that it would be okay to use the multi-vehicle coolant instead of the valvoline Dex-cool but wanted to check with you guys before doing so.https://www.valvolineglobal.com/en/valvoline-multi-vehicle-antifreeze-coolant/

It is probably compatible. I believe all multi-vehicle coolants are OAT so that's how they can claim compatibility with other coolants.

However, with this new of a GM, if I was going through the process of flushing out an entire engine, probably the only coolant I'd replace with is John Deere Cool Gard II.

I'd probably lean towards just pulling the radiator petcock (if it has one) or pulling the lower radiator hose and then re-filling with your choice of Dex-cool.

Generally it isn't an issue, but on a newer truck like this I'd go dexcool/OEM coolant.

Pretty easy job to DIY, and you wouldn't even need to jack up the truck.

My main concern doing it myself is just making sure I don't get air pockets. That's the big reason why I don't attempt it. I know they make air vacuum coolant systems to prevent that but then I'd have to by an air compressor as well, so in this one instance of maintenance it seems like having the people at valvoline do it might be the best choice. I just wasn't sure if the multi-vehicle coolant would be okay with dex cool

Why are you changing the coolant on a 2 year old truck? Unless it's been somehow contaminated, leave it be. I wouldn't change from Dexcool to the universal stuff, especially if the truck is still under warranty. Leave it be.
