Is there any reason to not run a High Mileage engine oil in a new motor? Unless the seal conditioners are not good for new engines it seems like it should be an excellent choice. I am thinking about running this in my 1989 4Runner once the rebuild gets some miles on it.

My Mazda Speed 3 requires SM oil so Royal Purple is out so time to start thinking about.

Is there a SM High Mileage Oil available? Is there a synthetic version?

The only High Mileage oils that I have found are:

Valvoline Maxlife conventional & synthetic
Castrol conventional
Pennzoil conventional
Mobil 1 conventional & synthetic(?)
Quaker State conventional

It seems that Valvoline MaxLife is the only synthetic and they all seem to be SL.

Maxlife is the only HM oil with PAO added - the real deal.

Whether or not Mobil 1 has any PAO left in it is still up in the air.

There is a new Mobil 1 High Mileage synthetic oil that has recently just hit the shelves as a 10W-30 and a 10W-40, both are SL rated.

Mobil also has the Mobil Clean High Mileage (conventional) oil as a 5W-30, 10W-30, & 10W-40...all of which are SM rated according to the info on Mobil's site.

Very happy with MaxLife "Full" Synthetic. I am going to do a UOA on the current fill in my GF's Mariner V-6. It has raised her mileage 1 to 1.5 MPG. The oil use is none or very little. Seems to be cleaning the engine well, as it is coming out with a dark brown tint at 5K OCI"s. And like TallPaul I too have noticed the unique way it pours in the funnel. It is like each drop is slipping on another drop.

Seems to me that the term "Full Synthetic" was created to more clearly distinguish (or distance the product) from "Synthetic Blend."

Wouldn't it be funny if an oil company were perfectly honest and labeled their Group III as "Fake Synthetic" or maybe better "Pseudo-Synthetic"? Then the other's would have to label theirs "Real Synthetic."

I know that Maxlife isn't a true synthetic, but should still be a great oil. There is another thread that I saw exploring the difference between MaxLife conventional and synthetic. I will keep an eye on that.
