Valvoline Max Life - Did I Make A Mistake?

Good Evening Board,

By mistake I bought the Max Life Synthetic as opposed to their Non-Max Life product, 5w/30, and put it in my son's Chevy Cruze that has only 27,000 miles, instead of the 75,000 that the product is recommended for.

Do I need to dump it or is it ok to leave in until the next oil change?

It's fine, and possibly a great idea.

Car will be fine. Valvoline even says it can be used in brand new cars.

Valvoline says its MaxLife motor oils are suitable for vehicles of all ages, even new cars. And, for what it's worth, MaxLife full synthetic actually has lower volatility than regular Syntec, suggesting slightly better base stocks. You'll be just fine.

No problems. MaxLife can be used in any vehicle, no matter the age. Some people use it in new cars because of its increased additive package. It's a good oil. Use it in whatever you want.

Leave it, its a good oil, no need for concern.

MaxLife is an excellent oil. Not only can you leave it in, but ask your son about it b/c he might like how the vehicle feels with MaxLife in it and might start using it regularly.

The high mileage, max life etc type oils are considered by many to be better than the "regular..." oil lines... they are usually a bit thicker, and may contain slightly higher levels of certain anti-wear ingredients, detergents and seal conditioners, depending on brand...

Manufacturers can put more of certain ingredients in the formula because these oils are not subject to the API restraints placed on "regular..." API compliant resource conserving oils.

No worries using them in any car...

I'm sure it is fine, however it is a high mileage oil and has certain additives that affect seals. I would leave this change in there but in the future use a good regular dino or synthetic.

Its a good oil, nothing negative would happen. As stated by "Dahn" iv read emails people have posted where an Ashland petroleum engineer seemed to imply that maxlife had a higher quality of PAO then in Synpower.

It will harm NOTHING, including seals

It is a little thicker and actually has enhanced cleaning agents, it just doesn't meet the API fuel economy requirements so it doesn't have the "starburst" on the bottle.
