OEM Subaru oil filter 15208AA20A. Local miles mostly, ~30% highway. 3 months on oil.

Looks good & keep in mind fuel dilution may or may not track with increased mileage if you decide to go further than 2.2k. Si should come down more too.

I had a nice one-hour highway ride with oil temperatures touching frequently 217F before the oil was drained.
Was hoping to boil off the gas and water to 0% 😎.

are you having to add oil between changes.. Subaru are know to burn oil some more than others.. if so how much.. I see this is a 2024 a good rule of thumb on new engine is change the oil at 1500 miles then 3K to get the break in material out of the system sooner. good luck with your new car. :)

First oil change at 1.1k miles than every 3k. I cut all my oil filters. You can clearly see some break in junk in first three oil filters.
I had minimal oil consumption with Mobil 1 EP 0W-20. Zero consumption when switched to Valvoline EP 0W-20, then to Idemitsu SP/GF6 5W-30. Looking at Gokhan Estimated HTFS Table you may notice that M1 EP has about 6% VII and lower viscosity base oil.

A lot of folks when the buy a new car etc just run till the change oil light comes on.. It would be cool if manf programed for 1500 miles, then 3K then go to normal 7K changes. but that would be too much like caring about customers. LOL... good for you and many years of happy ownership.. Daughter just got into a 17 forester and loves it. :)

I agree, it would be very cool to implement early fluids changes on break-in equipment.
Nonetheless, I see an entirely opposite trend. Lifetime fluids and longer oil change intervals in the name of advertised lower cost of ownership.
Congrats on your daughter's Forester!

It blows my mind that even a brand new Lexus still doesn't include an Oil Life Monitor.

You are changing way way too often Changing at 6K miles will not hurt vehicle life at all.
Subarus are very easy on oil. I personally would go to 30 wt. oil and run it at least 10K miles.

Remember myself convincing my friend to change oil at 10k instead of 3k in his RAV4…
I was doing oil changes in my Hondas by OLM at the time. R18 in Civic is whistle clean and Accord K24 looks nasty under the valve cover, go figure 🤷‍♂️

I like this oil. I just changed oil in my GR86. Used the 5W-30 and one quart of 20W-50 Mobiol 1 Motorcycloe Oil. I promise I will do a uoa and if OK another one at 10K. Might go higher.

Honda K24 following the Maintenance Minder at about 120,000 miles. Something other than 10,000 mile OCI's contributed to that discoloration.

Are you sure it is a K24 engine? The exhaust cam bracket looks somewhat different. Valve cover mounting studs are missing. Is the exhaust manifold in front of the engine?
K24W1? Apples to oranges…

2014 Accord is the K24 I have. Exhaust manifold is in front of the engine.

K24 the exhaust manifold is on the “rear” with intake on the front. that isn’t a K24.

If it’s that generation of Accord and it isn’t a V6 it has to be a K24. I believe that year was DI, so probably K24W.

interesting, i stand corrected. maybe all the fuel dilution over the OCI’s kept it clean. i wonder why honda reversed the flow of the head.
