Valvoline downunder worth looking at !

Left work before everything was closed for a change today, and took a walk through the parts place, and specifically looked at the Valvoline range.

Seriously worth a look.

Nextgen petrol 15w40
Nextgen Diesel 15w40
Engine Armour 10w30, 10W-40, and 15w40
Durablend 10w30, 10W-40, and 15W-50, and a 5w30 Dexos
Professional series (workshops) 10w30, 10W-40, and 15w40
Maxlife Semi Synthetic 20W-50

And before anyone starts talking about bullock trains and Alice Springs...also available in the range

Got some nextgen in my sump. Quite happy with it.

Paid 30 with a free drain pan that is more 'hygenic' and made in usa.

Where was this? Hardly see anything else but 5w-40 and 10w-50

Supercheap ? I only go there for oil and paint. I have a trade account at Repco, but sometimes Supercheap is just so...cheap.

The Nextgen 15W40 seems pretty reasonably priced at supercheap auto. It's about $27 or $28 dollars for 5L.

I'm with Crinkles though. Our local supercheap doesn't seem to stock very much at the thinner end of the spectrum. I only eveer see synpower in 5W40 or 10W50. The only thin Valvo oil I can get there is Durablend 5W30.

Oh yeah, and maxlife is a big bummer here. It's available in any grade you want, so long as you want 20W50.

I find the range quite confusing. There seems to be mid saps and high saps versions of the same oil but no mention of this on the bottles in the store. Whats the difference between Engine Armour and Durablend? One is a "synthetic blend" the other is "semi synthetic". Is that not the same?

Some might pay a lot...but you know me...I buy oil on the cheap, my frugal nature, I suppose...my last stash addition was Pennzoil Ultra 5W30 for $2/QT...no way I would pay for importing exotic Aussie oil, no matter how cool it looks!

Nothing there of any interest there really. I can get Motul cheaper than Valvoline here in NZ

You dug up this thread just to say to you can get a good deal on Motul? For the rest of us Valvoline is much cheaper than Mobil or Castrol let alone Motul. However because it's $3/qt more expensive at Walmart it seems barely worthy of reference on BITOG

Not much in the Oz lubricant lineup appears lanolin based, guess that's got to worry kiwis.

Shannow - The new Group 5 lubricants being developed from 'roo and Camel fats (our most plentiful animals) will have better characteristics than the Kiwi lanolin based versions

First they need to control the jumps in performance and get over a few humps
