Valvoline Conventional (dino) ???

I did a search and didn't find much information on the Valvoline conventional motor oil. The reason for the search is that I was thinking about using it in a new Toyota Corolla 1.8L...... and the reason for THAT is the fact that Walmart has the 5-qt jug for $9.97.

The plan is for 6-month oil change intervals. Typical mileage will be 3k - 4k in that 6 months. Using PureOne filters.

Other choices are Castrol GTX @ $11, Regular Pennzoil @ $11, Motorcraft @ $10.50 ( all 5-qt jugs).

This vehicle will be kept for 8-10 years before being sold/traded. Total mileage will be far less than 100k.

Opinions?

Git r done. I use Valvoline a lot; never a problem. It's a Corolla...you could add bleach water to the crankcase and likely not hurt the engine.

If you have Advance Auto in your area they are running Castrol dino for $8.00 per gal.

In that case (under 100K), I would purchase SuperTech conventional. There are numerous posters here with over 200K - using it exclusively.

The Valvoline 5w30 conventional is excellent oil. Any of the recommended brands from the other posters will no doubt work very well in your Toyota - the things are bullet-proof anyway.

Good plan, good choices all, should have good results.

whatever is cheapest but I would recommend sticking with one after you decide. There is nothing wrong with changing brands often, but it isn't exactly optimal either.

The Castrol gallon might be a 4qt. not 5qt. so the price might not seem so good. I agree though with using the SuperTech conventional for your situation and save even more money.

I ran my wifes Lexus on Valvoline AC for 75k then switched to maxlife. Never a problem.

My previous car was run on Valvoline conventional (and Napa branded generic valvoline) it's entire 225,000 mile life until i sold it in perfect condition.

If it's cheap, readily available, use it. However as other posters have pointed out, just about anything would work fine in your yota engine.

I've used Valvoline conventional for 40 years with absolutely no problems whatsoever...

Valvoline conventional is good stuff. My '06 F-150 loves it, especially at the Walmart price. I can get 7 qts of Valvoline & a Motorcraft filter for under $20.

Been using Valvoline (as well as Pennzoil & Motorcraft) for over 30 years with zero problems and zero complaints.

Valvoline is very good quality oil. It is all I use and never had a single problem with it in a variety of engines with various mileage on each.

If you are looking to save even more you could go for Mobil Clean 5000. I think it is like $8.97 for 5 quarts. Pretty much the cheapest name brand dino there is and it is good oil. I look for it sometimes but it is usually sold out at my Walmart.

Of course there is always the SuperTech for like $6.97 for 5 quarts but some folks don't trust it. It is however as good as the other name brands.

I just think its overpriced thats why i don't use it.

but i have bought it when it was on sale for less then 2 bucks a quart
