Valvoline /Aamco Syn Blend ATF ??

Any body have any "info" on these fluids? Labels say they meet Dex IIIG specs, my existing transmission fluid is as bright red as new, smells fine, but, w/ 10K~ miles on '96 Impala SS and 8 years on car/tranny/fluid I'm gonna "drop the pan, replace filter and replace the pan with the deeper GM Silverado Pan" which will add about 2 qt capacity...Should I consider the Valvoline syn Blend ATF/Aamco Synthetic Blend or just buy conventional ATF? BTW, the Valvoline and Aamco can be had for lt $2.50 quart through GI Joes w/ military discount or AAFES....

I've racked up about 200,000 total miles in 2 F150's,with the 4R70W using the Valvoline syn blend ATF. Of course, these are Mercon V spec transmissions, but I've never had a problem.

My Jeep Cherokee also gets it in its AW4 transmission and 231 Transfer Case. Keeps the stock simple...

And before anyone asks, YES, you do use a Mercon Dexron Fluid in the Cherokee Transmissions - it is the only one in the later year Chysler lineup that does NOT use ATF+3, etc... (makes sense as the transmission isn't a Chrysler unit!)

I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the fluids as the add pack is supplied by one of two major additive suppliers. The base fluid is Group I paraffinic and Group III.

Just remember, the sponsors here also sell ATF's and would like to help keep this site up and running.

Nobody has any data/thoughts?.....I can use either of these at $2.50~ qt or just ol dex III Citgo ATF at $1~ a quart, was thinking of a bottle of lubeguard too (4L60E) w/ 10K miles, fluid bright red, (adding GM silverado deep pan for additional 2 qt~ capacity)anybody w/ some ATF facts to assist?

If you're going to use some Lubeguard then just use the Citgo DIII.

I can't see paying Valvoline an extra $1 for the advertising and hype.

Change fluid within 30,000 miles and your transmission will thank you.

Maybe a little off-topic here, but what is the advantage of the lubeguard? I've seen it around several differnt places. They had three different types. One converted a DEX III to a MERCON V?

At 60k miles,I switched to AAMCO syn blend Mercon V in my 97 F150,4R70W trans.It made the shifts so much crisper and no more shudder.I get it at Autozone for $2.99 a quart.

Valvoline doesn't make Aamco's ATF. ExxonMobil does.
