128,000 miles since March '11. All name brand oils and filters, even some leftover frankenbrew mixes along the way, everything from 0w20 to 5w40...ranging from 5k to 10k OCI. Guess I will keep doing the same thing, appears to be working fine.

4.6 2v....was looking for evidence of a cold start tick on pass side, but rockers and lash adjusters(lifters) all looked fine. I think it is the timing chain auto tension device which is well known to have some issue...not bad enough for me to dig deeper..just changed the plugs and ready for more.

Thats awesome. I switch oils every now and then so my engine gets the best of all worlds lol. I think switching helps to keep gunk from forming. Looks clean man. keep us informed.

The first 50k or so was MC5w20 and FL820S, but since then brands are mainly whats on a good sale deal and a good name brand filter (no Fram, sorry) My usual minimum drive is about 1hr each way, so lots of steady cruise time is to credit for this I feel...like I said...ready for another 128k !

Looks super clean! Makes me think more and more that with the sn oils dino and syn are really not far apart in quality.

@ Merkava...no , not all. It runs the entire range of dino , syn blend, full syn...I have jumped around a lot. If full syn, usually 10k OCI, blend is 7500k OCI (usually by oil monitor) and dino is 5k OCI. U name a brand name available at Wally world or Auto Zone..I have probably used it. Currently has VWB 5w20...with a quart of Synpower 0w20 leftover from the wife's car's last change to make up the last little bit.

Yeah I was hoping for one brand at one OCI, but that would've been too easy.

With the way that engine looks, I was gonna run out and buy the oil tonight.

Yeah...like I said , pretty sure the tons of steady cruise time can take as much credit as the oil brand or OCI...I put on from 40-50K a year..I take care of my truck...too much $ to let it go to waste.

Seriously considering a 2014 ...but not until after the '15's have come out...maybe I can find a leftover !

I am not sure I buy into the idea of switching oils helps.

Nice! I'm hoping for similar results on my '13 5.0. Have to go synthetic up here for winter though...

Manufacturer's specifications are what... 5w20 for that engine/year?
