valve clearance on generator.

I have a Pulsar G65BN and the owners manual has you taking it in for service for valve adjustments.
All I need to know is the spec.
I've got .007in. for both to .004-.007 intake and .008-.010 exhaust. None officially for this model.

Typically, it's common to see the exhaust be a few thou larger than the intake.
But honestly I don't think it matters much on an engine that runs a constant 3600 rpm. As long as they are close enough, it'll be good enough.

I own a Pulsar PG12000B with the Ducar 457cc engine. I contacted Pulsar and they gave me 0.007 inch intake and .009 inch exhaust.

We all know that too tight can cause burned valves and other issues. Too loose is generally harmless unless it is excessive, at which point camshaft/tappet wear and hammering effects can show up.

But most people forget that we can 'tune' by ear, at least with regard to 'too loose'. Adjustable valve clearances should be just barely audible on a warmed up engine.

Not your engine but The Toro/Lonchin 265cc (chonda approximation) on my snowblower is 0.15mm In/ 0.20mm Ex.
It needed attention after broke in the first year. It was popping and running hot and low on power. The Valves were too tight. Lonchin glued the VC gasket to the head - and it was paper at that! Disappointing for a service cover.

I usually lash one thou looser than nominal. .006/.009" i/e sounds about right for a pushrod OHC. When I checked the snowblower surprised to find them at .003 cold from the factory.

My Generac GP5500 OHC purrs like a kitten, I have not check it in 17 years! I should. Shame on me.

If I can't find a spec then I set everything to 6 intake & 8 exhaust and that has always worked well.

I think nearly all modern air cooled engines use an automatic decompression scheme of some sort.
