I was told by my wife a few days ago that I didn't have a single "romantic bone" in my body. Worst of all is, she's right..........in the sense that I don't come up with great ideas for Valentines etc.
My point is.....I need your help!! All I need is a "small" gift idea and what to do afterwards.
So far, the only thing I've come up with is, go out for a couple of drinks, then eat and go to the movies after that.
With all this worrying, I better "score" at the end of the day.....or I'll be p!ssed!

Thanks

For sure send her flowers. Preferably she'll receive them when someone else witnesses and you aren't there.

Get her some small jewelery. Doesn't have to be killer expensive...unless she's a gold-digger

give it to her before you go out. Leave the card until later, she'll be thinking you the idiot (as usual, in my case)Then take her somewhere nice and say good things about her eyes......she can "find" the card when you get home.

You'll score...but I thought you wanted advice about the wife??

Just kidding, but try the above.

Well, last valentines the most romantic thing I could say was:
Nice legs.....when do they open????

Just kidding!

Getting back to topic.....good ideas Pablo. As far as jewlry....I'm not buying her anymore gold and she doesn't want any.
Thanks for the help!

I think its time to turn this valentines thing around. Ask them, when did you do something romantic for ME?

benjamin,
The chocolate idea is a very good one. Thank your wife for me. I did tell her we could go watch some chick movie so we could cry together and stuff

Dan,
You make a good point.

I claim no expertise here, but I don't see how you could go wrong with the traditional gifts:

1. Roses- a dozen, long stemmed, preferably red. Supermarkets often have a reasonable price.

2. Chocolate! Get her a nice box of chocolates.

3. Jewelry. Doesn't have to be really expensive, *BUT*- it should *NOT* turn her skin green!

Engraving is a nice touch.

4. A nice dinner out. McDonald's won't cut it here!

All four of those, plus a nice card, should make for a great Valentine's Day.

You should have one of those teddy bear things that are adverised on TV sent to where she works. You can also surprize her after work by picking her up and taking her on a trip that you have planned in advance and not telling her where you are going until you arrive at your destination.

Here's my take on it. "Dames is trouble!"
The secret to making a woman happy is to somehow figure out exactly what she wants, and then do that;)
The only way to guarantee a 'sure thing' is to take your time. My wife likes to say that men are like microwave ovens, while women are like slow cookers. You have to think SLOW. You gotta start with them in the morning and be The Man all day long. Caring, sweet and attentive (if that's the kind of guy that revs her engine). Dinner, movies, flowers, stuffed animals, jewels -whatever she needs- just don't blow an entire day's work by trying to take a short cut home from the date, getting lost then refusing to ask directions, or say something mean to her if she accidentally opens the door of your classic '69 droptop mustang into the side of a minivan at the restaurant. Don't order a meal that will give you bad breath or gas. If she orders a meal that gives her bad breath or gas, just pretend she didn't (it's OK to mention it as you drift off into sated slumber. While cuddling, of course.) Good luck and happy V Day.

Buy enough Exxon Superflo or Motorcraft oil to form a heart on your bed. She'll be so happy that she won't notice all the oil stains on the bed.

Last_Z,
my advice is to keep away from commercialising the day.

Cook her dinner, and get one of those movies that we don't really like, or look out for, but actually enjoy watching when we watch them.

Give a foot-rub, and conversation.

Leave the dishes until the morning and do them while you are cooking breakfast or something.

Can't guarantee anything, but flowers and dinner out sort of ruin any spontenaity, and make it seem like other people have to provide your special moments.

Many upper end salons offer valentine's packages. For under $200 you get her a card with a certificate for: cut, color, manicure, pedacure, massage, nails, and a box of chocolates.

Also, instead of the case of SuperTech 10W30, which will be sure to turn her off and enforce the idea what a cheap oil head you are, get her something exotic like some Motul, Redline, or Amsoil. She'll really appreciate the effort.

Valentine's day is also my wedding aniversary, so I really have to do it right.
So far, I'm thinking chocolates, dinner, flowers, new Norah Jones CD, and whatever else I can think of.

get home before your wife does. leave a trail of small wrapped trinkets and cards to the bedroom. little stuff like candies, cd's, flowers, fumoto drain valves, etc... you should be in bed when she gets there.

bath and body works can be nice (although you don't want to suggest she's lacking personal hygiene).

take her out to dinner at a place that takes reservations. be sure you buy.

send her flowers at work.

buy her something related to a hobby (hers, not yours).

shave your back.

Now tell me HOW you could possibly keep from doing this? I think she should consider herself lucky that she is not walking home!

BTW... does anyone else notice that thier significant other refuses to park at the very end of the row in parking lots, far away from all other cars (and the building entrance). My fiancee always gets pissed that I make her walk. LOL

You guys are crazy

Many good ideas here though.
Here is what I'm planing:
-Get her a massage saloon appointment
-Flowers
-Chocolate candies....she's a sweets freak
-Go out to dinner on Saturday

Hope that's enough!
