As preventive maintenance how many of you replaced all of your vacuum hoses? Are there any good after market sets out there.

Just curious why? I have had three 5vz engines and while others problems arose, in 200k+ miles on them, never once did I have a vacuum hose go bad.

Save up for repairs like valve cover gaskets, wheel bearings, and the TB/H20 pump if it has not been done.

Some last a LONG time.It depends on heat and ambient vapors.
A good check is a great idea, but i would not replace them without a good reason.

This has crossed my mind recently, especially with the cruddy shape the PCV valve was in from the breather chamber on my Civic.

Other than 'seeing' visible holes in the hoses themselves, I tried spraying some MAF sensor cleaner(what I had on had so you know lol), at various vacuum hoses; primarily just where they connected to another location(IM/eblow etc), and I didn't notice and changes in idle.

Does that mean the hoses are good/no vacuum leaks at the hoses I was able to spray and visibly see? Lastly, how tight do those 'spring clamps' need to be on vacuum hoses? Just enough to prevent it from moving, right?

The problem with vac hoses is that the ones you get from the auto parts stores are junk and never last as long as the originals.
