Me, 318 Dodge, Ram Van 15.5 avg, best 16.47 mpg, loaded wgt 8600 pounds, makes me my living. OIl: Rotella T-6, Wix filter. 1500 miles a week.

I don't have a V-8 car now. My '86 Mercedes 420SEL had the 4.2-liter V-8 that, in various conformations like 3.8 and 5.6, MB put into its S-Classes and SLs in those days. It got about 19 mpg average, good for an engine designed in the '70s and sold in the '80s in a car weighing almost two tons.

Bought the car at ~138K miles. In Denver I used 10w30, usually Valvoline, in the winters and 20W-50 (!) in the summers. I drove about 12-14,000 miles a year then, a lot highway. 3K changes with Mann filters.

When I moved back to The Swamp in 2001, I switched to 15w40 Chevron Delo, and saw better oil pressure at hot idle! My driving went to about 900 miles a month. Just as I had in Denver, though, I changed oil at 3K miles -- until the car was totalled while parked at 198,000 miles. RIP.

while not my vehicle,I maintain my aunts Jeep cherokee with the 4.7 litre V8. She usually brings in 10w30 Sheell formula and changes it every 3-5K. Jeep has 155K on it now.

Note any difference in mileage with the T6 vs the M1?

96 Mustang GT 4.6L SOHC- Mileage will vary depending on driving style up 24MPG. Use Redline 5w30.

99 Mustang Cobra 4.6L DOHC- Again mileage varies, use Redline 5w30 or the 10w30, or mix the two 50-50.

86 Corvette 5.7L- wife drives like a grandma, and I haven't asked her lately, but it is in the teens as far as mileage. She is currently running 10w30 Mobil 1EP.

'03 Grand Marquis 4.6L - Liqui-Moly Synthoil Long Time 0W-30. Average 11.5L/100 kilometres (26.5 MPG).

'05 ML500 5.0L - Fuchs Titan SuperSyn LongLife 5w30. Average 7.8L/100 kilometres (18 MPG).

Do you have two vans on the road? One with M1 and the other with T6? How do they compare?

no change in mileage to speak of, at 75 mph and loaded it will drop to mid 14mpg, between T 6 and M1, about the same

*** Just one van, t6 and m1 about the same mpg, not big change, the 5w40 T 6 has made the engine noise quiet down some at idle over the 10w30 m1, so far the T6 is doing ok. May just keep it as a permanent user oil.

95 Ram 1500 RC,SB,2WD 360 Magnum 47RH Transmission

I have about 105k on the engine, right now there is older Amsoil 0w30 (pre sso) and I swear I'm lucky if I get about 12mpg with this thing. It runs great, I like driving it, it pulls my 5000lb boat with problems but man does is it a gasaholic

1993 Chevy C1500, GM L03 5.0L in my truck, 170,000 on motor, 368,000 on truck, weight about 4200 lbs, 18 mpg around town, 21 highway. Currently GC 0w30 with P1 filter.

2006 Pontiac GTO, GM LS2 6.0L in my car, 20,000 miles, weight about 3700 lbs, 17 mpg around town, 25 highway. Currently PP 5w30 with P1 filter.

Lexus LS400 4L V8, Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 at 5-6000 miles. Before that, Mobil 1 5w30. 22mpg avg, 30mpg best.

2006 C6 6 liter Corvette. 30 +/- 1 mpg on long highway runs at about 5 over the speed limit. 22-25 mpg for general driving.

Mobil one changed at OLM recommended intervals or 1 year, whichever comes first.

1973 450SE Iron Block, 290+K, 20W-50 Chevron? Havoline? (I honestly don't remember...)

1987 F250 SuperCab 460 4-barrel, 181K, 10w30 Union 76 Super Semi-Synthetic

1988 420SEL 180K (-something), 20W-50 Chevron Supreme (this one I do remember)

1991 420SEL 187K, 4x 20W-50 MaxLife + 4x 20W-50 SynPower

1993 Lexus SC400, 84,500 miles, some kind of 5w30 Synthetic in there, now. Probably will go with PP, NAPA Synthetic, or some other 5w30 Synthetic when on sale, $3.99/quart or otherwise

Cheers!

2005 Nissan Titan, current fill PP 5w30. Averages 16 Mpg. 5 hours a week idling, hauls a 5K trailer once or twice a month. Uses about 4-6 oz of oil every 3K.

At the office, 250 Crown Vic Police Interceptors. 5w-20 bulk motorcraft syn blend, changed every 5K. Most need 1 quart top off in between OCI. They average 12 mpg.

Dave

All our 4.6 Panthers use 5w20 Motorcraft Blend and once in awhile Full Synthetic changed out every 5K miles.

They average 26 mpg on the highway...Average local and highway mixed is around 18 mpg...The a/c is always on automatic.

7.8 l/100km = 30 MPG (US)
18 MPG (US) = 13 l/100km

I'm guessing the 18 MPG figure is the correct one? :)

Still a decent figure for a 5l engine. Our C300 4Matic doesn't get a whole lot better - 21 MPG.

2000 Trans Am WS6 5.7 LS1, cam, headers, exhaust, intake N20 and stuff I am forgetting. I run M1 10W30, 4000 miles changes.
6 speed car
Stock MPGs were about 18 mpg around town and 28 mpg on the highway. Now I see about 15 mpg around town and 26 mpg on the highway at 70ish.

1989 GMC 1 ton, stock runs like new. 8 to 10 mpg no matter what.
It gets 3000 mile Valvoline 10W40 oil changes, more frequent in summer months when lugging the 5th wheel around.
