Using a coolant additive

The benefit I think is most useful it how it helps your vehicle warm up to proper operating temp faster. This should result in a fuel economy increase, less stress on the drive train (longer life), and get your heater working faster so you don't freeze your butt off in the winter.

Check this out for the benefits of it's heat reduction:

Almost all of these products claim to warm up the coolant faster which makes sense if you understand the basic idea behind them.

I'm running the hy-per lube super coolant in my truck and I have to say it warms up faster than it did before in the cold months. I know this is the same as using a "butt dyno", but i pay close attention to my truck via a scanguage type product and I can see a difference in warm up times.

No matter what I say you will keep using it.

Hopefully others will save there money and just properly maintain their vehicles.

Although there is no way to prove it I would bet that a number of folks pushing the benefits of these "bitter water" products (the coolant version of snake oil LOL) are possibly stealth marketers.

Thanks for the "friendly" replies Boss302fan and 91344George. I guess that's what I get for sharing my point of view on a forum. I thought the whole point of forums like this was to share info and opinions with each other so we could make our own decisions? I guess I joined for the wrong reasons.

I am being friendly, but I just do not really think that I have seen a coolant additive that really improves anything... I appreciate your opinion though thereed. Hey, it probably will not hurt anything to try Water Wetter, etc...

Friendly disagreements are good for a forum. LOL...

I used pure distilled water and a double-strength dose of Redline Water Wetter in my 87 porsche 944s years ago with no problems. I lived in San Diego at the time and I didn't need freezing point depression below 32deg F. Because the cooling system pressure was 22psi, my boiling point was well above anything that I would encounter on the street. The combination of the water wetter and Redline synthetic oil allowed my engine to run at the thermostat temp at all times and under all conditions. It also boosted my oil pressure. I flushed and bled the system each year and never saw any signs of corrosion.

Marvel Mystery Oil won't mix with water. It will just float to the top of the reservoir tank and into the overfill bottle.

I always wonder how these additives could make an engine run cooler when the thermostat is what controls the engine temp. Most modern engines, if not all, have more water capacity than they need, and they have larger radiators than they need.

If a modern car can benefit from water wetters, then there is something wrong with the cooling system. Water wetters are for racing where they don't allow regular coolant. They might also help in motorcycles with small radiators and poor air flow.

I was thinking of Frontier Infiniti, not sure if they are part of the Hendrick Motor Group though.

Water Wetter and Purple Ice address hot spots .
In race engines, there are a lot more areas of concern.!
I have tried these producs, but saw/felt no difference.
But they may have done some good.
They work best with plain water , not street concentrations of antifreeze.
