The title probably says it all. The owner's manual is vague, recommending an "ethylene glycol" coolant.

I like the OEM coolant (easily found at Canadian Tire), and their site recommends this:

https://oemeasymatch.com/products/oem-extended-life-blue-ii-antifreeze-coolant/

Just to muddy the waters, I'm not sure of this, but think the engine might be a Ford Duratec, and wonder whether a Ford coolant might be a better fit.

Any help appreciated!

Edit: It looks like the engine is a Duratec:

Interesting that you have Asian Blue I and II up there

In the US, they have green and blue. Recochem doesn't seem to offer the Asian green in Canada.

Is Zerex available up there? Zerex Asian Green is the best to use for your MPV. Pentofrost A2 is also a good choice :)

If you want to play with Ford coolant, there is Zerex G-05, and the Recochem closest to it would be the Gold.

What coolant is in it now?

Thank you! I can get Zerex at NAPA. I don't know what coolant is in there at present.

(My local) NAPA stores don't list the Zerex Asian Green coolant. NAPA's Canadian website doesn't list any Zerex coolants as being compatible with a 2002 Mazda MPV.

They do recommend their house-branded Asian coolant, manufactured by Recochem. I think I'll go with this for now.
