using a bearing seal additive

Has anyone used a bearing seal additive, such as the one made by Gunk to help stop or slow up a rear main seal ?
I have a big block V8 that is leaking from the rear main seal. I recently changed to RP synthetic and it now leaks more from the rear main, but did leak before the change but not as much.
Anyway, any ideas if the bearing seal additive is ok to use or try ?

LOL! another one of those quick-fix-off-da-shelf thingy.

Try it if it's not too expensive. I would go with high mileage oil with seal sweller additives in there and sleep well in the nite.

Being a mechanic my usual prescription is to fix it by replacing the seal.
