'03 911 Carrera. Filter was on for about 2k miles with Pennzoil Platinum 5W-40.

The backing is metal. A Lennox Gold cut through without much issue but I could not tear even a few strands - strong stuff.

Fram Ultra has a stainless steel screen. Boss has a polymer, or plastic. Can a rust test be done so as to identify the steel used in the mesh?

I think the WIX XP filters have wire backing. The standard WIX filters don't have a wire backing. Someone fix me if this is wrong.

This WIX flyer shows it as "wire backed" so sounds like it's metal mesh and not some bonded nylon like some use - ie, Purolator Boss.
