I'm shopping for a used pool table. Is a one piece slate table much better than a two piece table? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I have a single piece slate...excellent shape. I will give it to you!! Nobody uses it and just cant get it moved! The size and weight are why nobody wants to deal with them.

5hr drive...come and get it!!!!!!!!

Usually they're either one piece or THREE piece slate-if you can get a one piece in, IMHO they're usually better, but a 3 piece is MUCH easier to move, generally beeswax or similar is used to reseal the seams. A 3 piece will also probably need new felt after you move it. I've never heard of a 2 piece slate, maybe it's something new? I haven't been in that business for 20 years or so.

Done both!

Moved a single piece table with the help of 4 other guys and a flat bed seed truck. Being able to surround it was key.

I assembled a 3 piecer in a studio once and it is correct to assume the felt is sacrificial at that point. If you're going to move a table a new felt is part of the "ride" anyway. Enjoy...and don't be like Paul Neuman in that movie.

You don't deserve a pool table.

It's misogynist. Piper Laurie's character didn't need to commit suicide!

A bunch of people make quality tables. Biggest thing to to get a quality table and then have someone who knows what they're doing set it up. Felt is huge depending on your skill level. If you have the room you at least need a 4x8 table.

What did you think about The Color of Money or Poolhall Junkies.

If you can check the table before its taken apart, check the cushions. Roll a cue ball into the cushion, it should have a good rebound. Check all sides.

Look at craigslist for an independant pooltable mover/installer. Call him up, sometimes they know people who want to get rid of a table, you may get a good deal like that.
