I have a 2005 Sebring Convertible w/ 130K, 1 owner car in perfect condition and never driven in the snow. I bought a set of Discount Tire Ohtsu tires in 2014, put about 12,000 miles on them and they have a ton of wear. A shop in town has a set of used Premier A/S tires w/ about 7-8/32 of tread and they want $260 installed for the set. 2 of the tires have a plug/patch repair on the tread. Would this be a good deal? I plan on keeping this car forever since there are no longer family size convertibles on the market that can hold 2 sets of golf clubs. I want good tires but don't want to spend more than the value of my car to get them.

What tire size? 205/65/15? If so, for about $300 you can get brand new General RT43s. I'd rather get that than used tires that have been repaired.

It's one thing if you plug/repair a tire that you own, but it's another thing to go looking for trouble. Where's the patch? Many tire shops won't repair/patch a tire that has a puncture in the outer ribs. Some smaller independents might though.

This !!!!!

I just got a pair of Sears tires in that exact size for $82, for the pair!

A tire shop with used tires has them because "something" was up with those tires. A junkyard with used tires has them because "something else" broke.

If you're going to keep the car forever, you want new, fresh tires... not someone else's used, patched tires, that could already be nearly 2 years old.

Thanks everyone.....ill pass on the Michelins. Ill look into the General RT43. If I can get those for $300 new, that a good deal.

you also need to think why did the prior owner get rid of them?

Besides the 2 patches, maybe they also wore out of round or otherwise were defective or not right.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's twice what I'd spend on four used tires. You can get brand new tires for that price. Walmart carries Mastercraft now. In the size 205/65-15, they have Douglas and Mastercraft tires for about $270 installed, for a set of four.

The only time to get used tires is in an emergency, or as a spare.

I got 4 contintinal purecontacts for 260 after rebate and another 50 to balance n install from discount tire + local shop.

I personally wouldnt go for used tires, you just dont know what your getting yourself into. Even with good tred, if tires has been sitting in sun its going to harden and be less effective.

I simply wouldnt cheap out on tires, its what connects you to the road.
