"Use Nukes to Contain the Oil Spill"

Much as the environmental destruction is horrible, I hope they don't take this route. There is a LOT of oil in that well that needs to be pumped out, and blowing it up would be a heck of a resource loss.

These deep-water wells are the way of the future, and there will be teething troubles along the way.

Of course it would be nice if they don't HAVE to take that route. But if there is no other option then they had better do it, and fast.

They are probably coming up with simulations to figure out how long they can let it leak before their share of the clean-up costs outweighs the expected value of continuing to look for a solution...

43 bird that they found, but judging from the amount of spill it is probably 100x that much over time.
More birds for the "Smusher". BP does it again, they bring the oil to you, soak the birds, they wash up on shore and "Smusher" the oil out of them. Genius.

After reading an english translation of that linked russian article, a commenter claims that the russians first tried a nuke on an uncontrolled well only after three years (!) of unsuccessfully trying every other method.

Here's hoping that it doesn't take three years for BP to plug this well.

BP will go bankrupt before 3 years of uncontrollable leak.

Hey, I got one, know how Exxon put a "Tiger" in your tank, well, BP can put a "Pelican" in your tank. I can see it on the pump, this fuel contains 20% recycled Pelican by volume. How many qts, do you think you could "smush" out of a adult Pelican.

Well, using a nuke to cap the leak is ridiculous. But an interesting conversation piece, if you will.

But there are no tactical nukes to be deployed a mile under water? LOL! Never heard of them delivered by torpedo/underwater missile? So why the underwater testing some 500 miles off of San Diego during the 1950s?

Now, ever heard of Operation Plowshare? Nukes were used in Colorado and New Mexico. At the latter, a 'small' fusion (H-Bomb) "shattered" the underlying rock allow more production from a natural gas well. But the gas was radioactive and no one wanted to buy it.
Operation Plowshare

did you guys notice big O said he sent SWAT teams to all of the oil rigs out in the gulf? that being said my aunt who lives in europe told us about the possible N Korean attack on the oil rig and that big O opted for a complete media blackout on it. lots and lots of this floating around russia- western europe. (she called me only 2 hours after the news broke in american on the explosion telling me the NK story. kind of hard to start a rumor with that much info in 2hrs lol)

AS preposterous as tghe conversation is their is a huge differnce betwen underground fracturing with a nuke and setting one off in 5000 feet of water.

I an definately nt a nuclearphobe. But WE know less about the dynamics of deepsea operations than we mknow about operations in space.

The article that put forth this information was written by Sorcha Faal, a known disinfo/conspiracy nut. Then it was carried by the EUtimes.net, an online media outlet known for conspiracy type stories.

I've researched whether any legitimate Russian or European media sources have covered the story, and haven't found any!

I went online to view the pictures of the oil spill and there are actually people holding signs and a website for the Goverment to sieze BP petroleum. Not being political here, but its scary that now that seems to be the solution for everything is if you screw up, the Goverment takes your bussiness, The goverment should never confiscate private bussiness-period. That should scare anybody and everybody, but most of the people holding the signs are too young to know better, the rest are burned out hippies, without a pot to pea in or a window to throw it out of.

You haven't researched this rumor, have you. The original source was Sorcha Faal. NUFF SAID!

The Raleigh news station had the original article from the Eutimes (a non credible news source - actually another rumor mill) on their blog.

LOL....jeesh. I have some ocean front property you might want to look a here in CO.
