Don't use pre-measured 2-cycle oil bottles unless you filled them...

I don't understand why that would make it stall. Too MUCH oil would foul the plugs and make it stall. Not enough oil would make the engine seize, no?

Not enough oil would actually make it run great up until it didn’t anymore. lol

Ran out of redarmor the other day, went to the echo dealer and all he had was 1gallon premix bottles.
Figured I would add a gallon prex bottle to 0.875 to 0.9 gallons of gas. If the bottle has the correct amount in it that will get me about 40:1. If the bottle is a little short should still easily get less than 50:1. Worst case scenario the bottle is 10cc short and I get close enough to 50:1, no problem.
I mix 40:1 for the saws, less than 40:1 and the saws load up with oil, they just don't like it. Then bump the fuel for the weedeaters after it's already in the weedeaters gas tank by adding a few cc of cheap Lowes 2 stroke oil that's blue. As long as the gas looks kind of purple it should be around 30:1.

Interesting. I mixed my oil for the year last weekend. I have the small one gallon red armor bottles and a 1 gallon gas tank. I dumped in one jug of oil and opened another and poured in a bit of that too. then I filled it with one gallon. I do not know what the ratio is now. I need to get one of those ratiorite cups to do it right.
Also, those one gallon just right metal cans suck. Very hard to get all the fuel out. Next time, and there wont be a next time cause this should last forvever, I will get a 2.5 gallon tank.

Usually I get the squeeze bottle of redarmor and add 10cc of oil for every 1/10 of a gallon of gas, rounding down on the gas number. Say I pump 0.445 or maybe 0.409 gallons, I add 40cc of oil.
That way I can top off my 1 gallon gas can from say 1/3 or half full. 100cc per gallon makes a mix between 32:1 and 40:1.
So 100cc or 100ml per gallon provides plenty of oil.

I've been buying the little bottles of 2 stroke oil and adding the contents to a one gallon can . I go through about two or three of these every summer and it works just fine for me .
