As i stated in my introduction forum post. I have been using Mobil Super High Mileage in my Wifes 2005 impala. It has 90k miles on it. It's 90% highway miles and I have to do 5k OCI's do to an extended warranty.

Since the car doesn't use any oil, nor does it have any leaks should i switch to regular oil? At 13.50 a jug, Mobilhm is a great buy. But, With the new SN oils should I switch to a Quaker State or Pennzoil conventional which i hear has a great add pack even thouh it is a couple of bucks more?

Maybe i'm over thinking this to much, but I guess my question is. Is Quaker State or Pennzoil conventional better oil than the MobilHm that i've been using? MAybe I should say, are the additives in them better than the mobilhm?

If I were choosing between those mentioned,I would stick with Mobil,it is a synthetic blend and seems to be a really good oil.

I think Mobil is as good if not better than PYB/QS and at a better price.Mobil also has titanium which seems to be something that is being added to some oils to help replace the reduction of ZDDP.

Stick with the Mobil.

i would stick w/ mobil too, your engine must be in great shape...as a guru once said "oil is oil", SN oil that is

I'll find out here shortly if it's in good shape or not. I ordered a used oil analysis kit a few minutes ago. we'll see if the hard work of being anal about keeping the cars running right is paying off ot not, lol. I'm going to have a used oil analysis on the transmission fluid as well on both cars.

You wont be able to tell the difference between any of these oils. They are all very good.Just buy the one on sale and you will be OK.

I don't see a need for the Mobil Super "HM" if you aren't leaking or burning oil.....I'd back down to the conventional/blend of Mobil Super Clean 5000...save you a couple bucks anyway

The High Mileage shouldnt hurt anything plus you are getting a synthetic blend at a good price. The High Mileage oils usually have a better add pack and even though you may not be leaking oil etc.,a High Mileage oil is usually a better oil.

The Mobil is also 'Resource Conserving' in the thinner grades.

Yeah, i'm probably going to stick with the MobilHM. I've just read so many people talk about how good the SN Pennzoil Conventional is, I was second guessing my choice. Didnt know if it was worth it to pay a few dollars more for it.

I am changing my oil this week and will going to Rotella T6 5W-40 for the rest of the summer. Then when things cool down, I will be going with the Mobil Super High Mileage in 5w30 or 10w30, probably 5w30. My '86 truck is spec'ed for that though. Going to be doing a little cleaning with the Rotella...
