Interesting question. First, I'd say many consider the term All Makes Models or Universal AF to be a misnomer. However, using Prestone (now called Prestone Concentrate) as an example, it does use/contain a main inhibitor found in DexCool, that being 2eha. But it is at a lower concentration than DexCool labeled AF. Also the AM/Ms AFs tend to have a semi neutral tint, lending to it's 'universal' term when added to other AFs. DexCool not as much.
For me, if I had a vehicle specing Dex now like newer Ford and GM, I'd use a DexCool labeled AF to get the real thing. Though a universal AM/M would be an option in that case.
If I owned a vehicle which specs an Asian PHOAT I'd use one of those, either oem an aftermarket option.
If I owned a vehicle specing G-05, I'd use that.
So basically, though the AM/M Universals are likely the most common AF sold in parts stores under their store name or Prestone or WM SuperTech, they would be my last choice.
